Chelsea Following Arsenal’s Road?

The score line of yesterday’s match between Chelsea and Arsenal was unbelievable. I wonder whether the most optismitics Arsenal fan could imagine that in the end, it would be the score line: Chelsea 1- Arsenal 2. However, in the end, this was the scoreline and it shocked supporters of both the clubs- no doubt about that. I feel that this season, the two clubs are following each other’s shadow in a different way. Chelsea earlier lost to Liverpool at home and then last night. On the other hand, Arsenal has already defeated Man Utd and last night Chelsea but they suffered against smaller clubs.

Manchester City vs Manchester United: Live Score and Updates

Manchester United and Manchester City are going face each other tomorrow (30 November 2008) in the first Manchester derby of the season. This is a very important match for several reasons. First, this is not just a match worth 3 points; rather both sides will look to gain psychological boost by winning this traditionally prestigious clash. On the back of two goalless draws, Manchester United will be looking to come back in the winning track, while host Manchester City would like to continue their recent impressive form. With Manchester United looking to take revenge of their 2 defeats of last season, the upcoming Manchester derby seems to be a spicy encounter for the fans of either side.

Match: Manchester City vs Manchester United, English Premier League 2008-09

Date: 30 November 2008, Sunday

Venue: City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester

Kick off: 13:30 BST (British Standard Time)

Manchester City takes the 11th place in the league table with 17 points thanks to 5 wins, 2 draws and 7 defeats. Well, the overall record of City is not impressive at all, but their recent high-flying form does not reflect their overall statistics of the season so far. Manchester City defeated Arsenal 3-0 at home in their recent premier league encounter, before posting a 2-0 away victory at FC Schalke 04 in UEFA Cup. So, they have every bit of possibility to go into the match full of confident. Moreover, they will also have home advantage in the match. Last season’s corresponding fixture saw Manchester City coming out winner 1-0, despite United had dominance over the hosts throughout the match. Later on, City also defeated their cross-town rivals away on a day which was the 50th anniversary of Munich tragedy.

So, Manchester United is gearing up to take revenge of their two defeats of last season. However, the Red Devils are not at the top of their form as they could only pick up 2 points from their last two outings in all competitions. In fact, they had only 2 wins out of last 6 matches in all competitions. Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has said that Sir Alex Ferguson boys are not getting used to defeats very often and that is why, City manager wants Ferguson and his boys to become more acquainted with defeats.

Goal.com reported:

According to The Sun, he said: "You have to understand the top managers don’t get beaten very often, so sometimes they don’t take it as well as other managers."

The champions have already lost twice this season - to Arsenal and Liverpool - and the City boss suggested that Sir Alex needs to become more familiar with the taste of defeat. The Welshman continued: "You have to get used to getting beaten sometimes, myself included."

Manchester United is now at the 3rd place in the league standing with 25 points from 13 matches including. The defending champions are now 8 points behind leaders Chelsea and Liverpool. United drew with Aston Villa away in their recent league encounter, before coming out with a goalless draw against Villarreal in Europe.

Manchester City fans have good news as their star forward Robinho is all set to return to action after missing out the trip to Schalke due to ankle injury. Gelson Fernandes and Pablo Zabaleta are also available for the important derby clash. Manchester United’s Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is also expected to be available for the short trip to Eastlands. Berbatov has just recovered from hamstring injury sustained while representing Bulgaria in a friendly match. Captain Gary Neville and Paul Scholes have been back to training. However, Neville is most likely to be included in the squad for the match against Manchester City.

For a Manchester derby, making a prediction is not an easy task and I am not going to do so. However, it is pretty sure both sides will be confident while facing each other. Traditional excitement and passion for a Manchester derby suggest a competitive and highly enjoyable match.

Nokia Suffering a Japanese Setback!

I have been covering about mobile phone for the last three years and to the honest with you I was totally shocked to see that Nokia has decided to get out of the Japanese market because the company was not selling well there. How can it be possible! After all, Nokia is the market leader in the whole world and has around 40% market share of mobile phone. It is the market leader and very few companies can even think of competing with it in any continent of the world and but it seems that happened is our side of the reverse that Nokia belongs to.

Well, you have to agree with me in one thing is that Nokia is very good to when it comes to giving inexpensive and not so fashionable mobile phones. Japanese perhaps is the second richest country in the world and has a vibrant mobile phone market in which, the consumers always look for high quality gadgets in stead of inexpensive things. Here, Japanese companies totally dominate. So, the market leaders in other countries have hardly anything to do. It doesn’t matter whether you are one of the top five mobile phone companies in the world.

India vs England 5th ODI Preview, Live Score 2008

If you want to get live score of the 5th ODI being played now, go to this entry:

India-England 5th ODI 2008: Live Updates

India will take on England in the fifth ODI of the already-decided series. The match will take place at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack tomorrow (26 November 2008). With India already clinching the series 4-0, the fifth ODI seems to have no importance. Having said that, India might set their new target to whitewash England in the series in what would guide them to reach their ultimate target of becoming no. 1 team in world cricket. No doubt, white wash over England would take India more closure to the no. 1 spot of ODI ranking. The best result England can expect in the series is to make it 4-3 in what would resurrect their lackluster form. So, still you can find some importance of the remaining three matches.

Match: India vs England, Fifth ODI 2008

Date: 26 November 2008, Wednesday

Venue: Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

Kick off: 14:30 local time (09:00 GMT)

Live on: NEO Sports, Sky Sports

India has been in an excellent form so far in the series with almost all their players are currently in good form. In the top order, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir are scoring with sheer consistency, while Yuvraj Singh is leading the Indian middle order successful. The batsman scored two back-to-back centuries in the first two matches in the series and played a crucial role in the fourth ODI too. The likes of Suresh Raina have strengthened the Indian batting line up, while Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is carrying out his responsibility with sheer success. All rounder Yusuf Pathan has bolstered Indian batting line up. Pacers are bringing up early breakthroughs and spinners are doing their job pretty well for India.

So, England, on the other hand, has found the task very tough so far in the series. Their batsmen have been struggling against Indian spinners. Well, the good thing about England team is that their batsmen played comparatively better against Indian spinners in the fifth ODI. You may claim that Indian spinners were having problem to grip the ball in the fourth match because of rain and wet outfield. However, still I think, England batsmen showed very good resistance against Indian bowlers in the match. For England, they have nothing to lose in the series anymore. So, they can play inspiration cricket for the remaining three matches in the series.

However, the main problem of England team seems to be the bowling strength. Pacers like James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Andrew Flintoff are doing well, but they could not yet dominate over the Indian batsmen. Moreover, they do not have a quality spinner like Ashley Giles. Lack of a quality spinner has become a big problem for England team.

India might bring some changes in the squad in order to give other members of the squad some opportunities. I guess, India might feature Irfan Pathan and Virat Kohli in the remaining three matches in the series. Spinner Pragyan Ojha might be given one or two chances. I am not saying that all of them will be given a chance in the fifth ODI. Rather, they might be given one or two chances in the upcoming three matches.

India is favorite for the 5th ODI too, but considering England’s performance in the fourth match, I think, England could take a stern test of Indian team who are aspiring to become the best team in the world. So, I am expecting a competitive match in the fifth ODI.

Manchester City Interested to Sign Arsenal Defender Kolo Toure

Following the Arab take-over in last Summer, Manchester City now seems to emerge as a new power of English Premier League. Going for star players with big-money offers is not a big deal for Manchester City anymore as its Arab owners are ready to make large amount deals. In fact, they already showed it by signing Brazilian forward Robinho from Real Madrid, breaking the British transfer record. Now, Arsenal defender Kolo Toure is one of their next big targets in the January transfer window. It has also been reported that Manchester City has plans to recruit 5 more players during the winter transfer window.

Mark Hughes wants to bolster his defense line up by adding Kolo Toure in the squad. Currently Micah Richards and Richard Dunne are the regular choices for Manchester City’s central defense positions. However, their performance has not been very impressive recently, even though they were excellent in their 3-0 triumph over Arsenal recently. Earlier, it was reported that Manchester City would make a £60 bid for Chelsea Captain John Terry, but now it seems to be unlikely to happen as they have already set their target at Toure. I guess, City’s Arab owners might have found Terry’s age too much to make a bid worth £60. Now, let us see if Manchester City can make a successful attempt to sign Arsenal defender Kolo Toure.

Sourav Ganguly Gets into BCCI Technical Committee

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly has recently been nominated in the technical committee of BCCI alongside several other former great players. Ganguly retired from international cricket recently at the end of the recent home series against Australia in which India defeated the visitors 2-0. Within 2 weeks of stepping out of international cricket, Sourav Ganguly has been included in BCCI’s technical committee, led by former great Sunil Gavaskar. The list of members also includes former Test batsman Chetan Chauhan and national team selector Kris Srikkanth. Here, I am giving the full list of the members of the committee from cricketnext:

Full list of technical committee members: Sunil Gavaskar (Chairman), Chetan Chauhan, M V Sridhar, Biman Bhattacharjee, Milind Rege, Gyanendra Pandey, Kris Srikkanth, Sourav Ganguly, VK Ramaswamy, N Srinivasan.

Though it is not yet confirmed what Ganguly would need to do in this job, it seems to be an indication that Sourav Ganguly might get associated with cricket administration. Rumors also have it in the media that Ganguly might try his luck in Politics too.

Throughout his career, Sourav Ganguly played with sheer guile and motivation and was immensely successful as a cricketer as well as a captain. In fact, the kind of unity and motivation the current Indian team features was initiated by Ganguly during his reign as Indian captain. He has the natural ability to lead and motivate others and his excellent man-management ability was another added advantage in his captaincy career. So, I would not be surprised even if he steps into cricket coaching, setting up a cricket academy in West Bengal, considering the fact that West Bengal has not produced many star cricketers as some other states did in India.

Carlos Tevez Seeing Uncertain Future at Manchester United?

Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez can now feel more insecure at the Old Trafford club as the club officials are now going to sing young Serbian midfielder Zoran Tosic. On Friday, an Independent Review Panel hearing will be organized in Sheffield in order to discuss a deal wroth £8m for the Partizan Belgrade midfielder.

Well, you might raise question that what is the relationship between United getting closure to a deal with midfielder Zoran Tosic and striker Carlos Tevez feeling insecurity at Manchester United. No doubt, there is not apparent relationship between the two things, but if you look at the condition very closely then you can see Manchester United has not offered a contract extension for the Argentine forward whose 2 year deal expires at the end of this season. The reported deal with Zoran Tosic shows that Manchester United is not totally unaware about the transfer market. If it is then the question arises that why Manchester United are making delay in making a new deal with Carlos Tevez when the clubs like Real Madrid are interested to sign him for huge amount.

So, there is enough reason for Carlos Tevez to worry about. His future is now shrouded of uncertainty. Now, let us see if Manchester United can hand an offer to Tevez before his current deal with Manchester United expires.

West Indies Cricket Board Seeks Load to ICC

You might think that global economic slowdown is the reason behind West India Cricket Board (WICB)’s current economic problem. Well, this is not the cast in fact. West Indies cricket board is now facing serious financial crisis because of several reasons. They recently sought help of international cricket council (ICC), asking for a loan of $3m. ICC has also accepted it positively and recommended it to its IDI Board (ICC Development International) to grant the loan.

Recently, WICB got a huge amount from Stanford 20-20 tournament, but they had to spend much of the amount to pay the legal costs occurred due to a legal conflict with team sponsor Digicel.

Hindustantimes reported:

The ICC's Kaushik Das (CFO) and Haroon Lorgat (CEO) have viewed the request favourably and recommended that to the IDI Board (ICC Development International) that the loan be advanced, "repayable in one year by September 2009 at a minimum interest rate".

A WICB source revealed that the Board had to forego their share of prize money from the Stanford games because of a prior agreement to pay off legal costs accrued in expensive litigation involving team sponsors Digicel.

Well, that is very nice that ICC is going to provide some monetary help to West Indies Cricket Board. The main problem of West Indies cricket is that they do not have a huge fan of cricket like India. So, big-money sponsor deal is not possible for WICB. TV right of WICB can be sold out for a huge sum of money and also they do not have a star player like Brian Lara anymore. The harsh reality is that young generation in the island nations are losing their interest for cricket, seeing lack of money in the game. Thus, the quality of cricket is getting deteriorated in West Indies. Stanford tournament has come as a welcome preventive to this problem, but still it is not enough to eradicate the financial problem totally.

Liverpool vs Olympique Marseille Preview, Live Score: Champions League 08-09

Liverpool hosts French side Olympique Marseille in a Group D meeting of Champions League at Anfield on 26 November 2008. The match is very important for either side for the qualification into the last 16 of the tournament. Liverpool currently secures the second place in the Group A point table with 8 points from 4 outings, while Marseille managed only 3 points from same number of matches and takes the third place in the standing. So, a victory for Liverpool will hand them a place in the knock out stage, while even a draw could take them to the last 16 if Atletico Madrid can at least draw with PSV Eindhoven. For Marseille, on the other hand, it is a must win match in order to keep their hopes of progressing to the last 16 alive.

Match: Liverpool vs Olympique Marseille; Group D, Champions League 2008-09

Date: 26 November 2008, Wednesday

Venue: Anfield, Liverpool

Kick off: 19:45 BST (British Standard Time)

Live on TV and Radio: Sky Sports, BBC Radio Five Live, and BBC Sport website

Since the league cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool is yet to get back their top form. In the recent premier league fixture, Liverpool was held to a frustrating goalless draw by Fulham at home. However, still Liverpool is going hand in hand with Chelsea atop the premier league table with 33 points from 14 matches, though takes the second place on goal difference. However, Liverpool fans can feel some relief knowing that Captain Steven Gerrard is all set to return with the Wednesday’s home match against Marseille as the midfielder has already shaken off his groin injury that kept him out of England’s victory over Germany in an international friendly last week and Liverpool’s recent draw with Fulham at home. Last but not the least, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will have Spanish striker Fernando Torres available for the first team contention against Marseille. Torres recovered from hamstring injury last week and is ready for the match.

Manager Rafael Benitez is not happy with the draw against Fulham on Saturday, but he does not want to spend any more time to think about that defeat; rather he wants to analyze the problems and find the solutions by the time they face Olympique Marseille.

BBC reported:

"We are disappointed about Saturday but we cannot talk about past games now. We have to think about making mistakes and analyse why and find solutions for the next game. "We are frustrated, really frustrated. How can we change that now? We have to analyse and talk to the players about the mistakes and try to change for the next game."

Olympique Marseille has not been at their best at this moment as they lost five points in their last two outings in League 1. However, Marseille is still in the title race as they secure the third place in the league table with 27 points from 15 matches, 6 points behind league leader Olympique Lyonnais. The French club will look to build on their 3-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in their last match in Europe. Liverpool will also try to build on their away victory over Marseille in the previous meeting. However, Marseille can take inspiration from their 1-0 away victory over Liverpool last season.

Liverpool is definitely favorite against Marseille, despite their recent lackluster form. They will try to compensate their fans for the recent home draw with Fulham, winning the match at Anfield. However, Marseille has a balanced side and I think, they can make the task very tough for Liverpool. I just hope to see an exciting match at Anfield.

Former English Cricketer Andy Moles Appointed as New Zealand Coach

Former cricketer of Warwickshire, Andy Moles, has recently been appointed as the new coach of New Zealand national cricket team who are currently touring Australia in a two-match test series. Moles, who previously coached Kenya and Scotland in international level, would take over the job from outgoing coach John Bracewell, who became New Zealand coach in 2003. From next season, Bracewell will coach Gloucestershire, an English county team. Andy Moles have earlier coaching experience as he coached Northern Districts.

Andy Moles never represented England in international cricket, but the batsman played for Warwickshire with sheer success.

Bloomberg reported:

“Andy has an outstanding coaching background,” Justin Vaughan, New Zealand Cricket’s chief executive officer, said in the statement. “He has made a real impact at Northern Districts over the past two seasons and also brings more than 15 years experience coaching at international level.”

John Bracewell had his contract with New Zealand board until 2009 will now be repaled by Moles. Bracewell may not be that much happy to see the current condition of New Zealand team. New Zealand currently stands 7th in Test and 5th in ODI ranking. Under his guidance, New Zealand won 13 tests, lost 19 and drew 8 test matches. ODI record of New Zealand during John Bracewell’s tenure looks better with 62 wins against 46 defeats and 1 no result. However, the twenty20 record is worst with 10 defeats against 5 wins. Now, let us see if Andy Moles can do better than what his predecessor did with New Zealand team.

BCCI Not Yet Convinced by PCB’s Assurance on Security Condition

India’s scheduled tour of Pakistan in January 2009 is now shrouded of uncertainty because of uncertain security condition in Pakistan where bomb attacks happen very often. BCCI has sought security clearance from Indian government in this regard and the government would send a team to assess the current security condition in the country before taking a final decision over the tour. In a pre-scheduled bilateral tour, India is supposed to visit Pakistan to take part in a 3-match Test and 5-match ODI series along with a Twenty20 international in January 2009.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, already assured of providing highest level of security to the Indian team during the tour. PCB is now trying to persuade BCCI to send India on the tour. Even Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also requested Indian government to send Indian team on the pre-scheduled tour to Pakistan. However, Indian officials are considering the current security condition in Pakistan very seriously because if the team suffers any damage due to any terror attack then it might put a huge mark on overall relationship between the two neighboring countries in the sub-continent.

Spain Wins Davis Cup 2008 Title Defeating Argentina in the Final

World no. 1 Rafael Nadal was perhaps the happiest man on Sunday when Spain ensured their victory in the Davis Cup final against Argentina at Mar del Plata. Spanish star Nadal was ruled out of the Davis Cup final because of his recent injury. However, Spanish team did not face too much problem to outclass the Argentine side.

Spanish players showed excellent progress this year even individually too. Rafael Nadal replaced Roger Federer at the top of the ranking thanks to his two Grand Slam titles this year. The Spaniard also clinched the gold medal of Beijing Olympic Games 2008. At this moment, 10 Spanish players are ranked in the top 60 ranking. So, you can easily guess the progress of tennis in Spain. Captained by Emilio Sanchez Vicario, Spain palyed inspirational tennis in Argentina to win the Davis Cup title.

AFT Cancelled Tennis Asia Cup because of the Unavailability of Top Ranked Asian Players

Tennis Asia Cup has been canceled by Asian Tennis Federation (AFT) because of the unavailability of the top ranked Asian tennis players. Asian Tennis Federation had a big plan to launch the tournament for the first time with the participation of the players only from Asian region. The tournament was supposed to begin with the men’s event in Pune from next month, followed by women’s event of the competition in Indore.

The countries, who earlier agreed to participate in Tennis Asia Cup, featured their third or fourth ranked player for the tournament which offers prize money of USD 1,00,000. However, AFT does not even know why the top ranked Asian players are reluctant to take part in the tournament. It is pretty much sure that without the participation of some of the top ranked players, Tennis Asia Cup can not get expected response from the fans. I think, it is a good chance for the top ranked Asian players to play among themselves and get better prepared for the Australian Open 2009.

Bordeaux vs Chelsea Preview, Live Score: Champions League 08-09

English club Chelsea is going to face French side Bordeaux on the road in a Group A encounter of Champions League 2008-09 on 26 November 2008. The match will take place at the Stade Chaban Delmas, Bordeaux. Both Chelsea and Bordeaux dropped points this weekend in domestic league and will be looking to back in winning track with the upcoming match. Chelsea is leading the point table in Group A with 7 points from 4 matches, while Bordeaux stands jointly second with Roma with a point less than Chelsea. Bordeaux was thrashed by Chelsea 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in the earlier meeting and Chelsea will be looking to build on that success while facing the French side away.

Match: Bordeaux vs Chelsea; Group A, UEFA Champions League 2008-09

Date: 26 November 2008, Wednesday

Venue: Stade Chaban Delmas, Bordeaux

Kick off: 19:45 BST (British Standard Time)

A victory for Chelsea would ensure them a spot in the last 16, while Bordeaux may not mind getting one point from the match. A victory over Chelsea would provide Bordeaux with lots of confidence and mental strength to bounce back from their recent poor form in French League 1. Last season’s League 1 runner up Bordeaux currently stands at the 6th position in the table with 25 points from 15 matches after losing 5 points in their last two league matches. Most recently, they drew with Stade Rennais 1-1 at home before losing to leader Olympique Lyonnais 2-1 away. So, an inspirational performance is badly needed for Bordeaux and if it comes against Chelsea then it would give an added advantage in their title race in domestic league.

Chelsea’s high-flying form seems to be fading away gradually, given their recent form in evidence. In their last five matches in all competitions, Chelsea could mange to win only 2 games against 2 defeats and a draw. In the previous round of Champions League fixture, Chelsea lost at Roma 3-1. After that, on November 12, Chelsea was crashed out of the League Cup after losing to Burnley in tie-breaker and most recently, they were held to a goalless draw at home by Newcastle United. So, Chelsea has a lot to achieve in the match. The Blues will look to clinch a victory over Bordeaux in what would ensure them a spot in the round of 16 and would help Chelsea recover their lost confidence. So, a lot of things are at stake for both sides ahead of the match.

Though Chelsea is not at their best at this moment, I still think Chelsea is favorite against Bordeaux because the French side is in no better condition after losing 5 points in their last two outings. In a sense, both Chelsea and Bordeaux will look to come back in winning track, seeking for a revamp in their recent poor form. Bordeaux will have home advantage, but still, Chelsea might make it 2-1. Well, that is just a mere prediction. I just hope that football fans would not see another one-sided match like Chelsea’s total domination over Bordeaux in their previous meeting.

ICL 20s World Series, 2008/09: India-Pakistan Match Updates

It is not a real India and Pakistan match and you may think that why we should bother about it. After all, Indian cricket league is not a real cricket as it is not sanctioned by international cricket council. But I I agree with you but at the same time I have to say that any kind of India and Pakistan match has its own attraction. Cricket is the most popular sport in both the canto countries and millions of people eagerly await for the day that of any match between them. So, I’m sure that tonight thousands of people will eagerly be in front of their television sets to enjoy the match.

Many people may feel that Pakistan has good advantaged in today’s match because Lahore team recently won the championship of Indian cricket league T20 tournament 2008. Pakistan team comprises of the almost same players that own the tournament a few days ago. They look like a solid game and they have a strong players in all the departments. I am impressed with their bowling attack as they have some one class bowlers in their team. But in fact, you have to agree with me that they have the best bowling lineup among all the teams.

There is an added advantage and incentive for Pakistan team. It seems that the new director general of PCB is inclined to accommodate Indian ticket league players in domestic cricket of Pakistan. So, It is perhaps a matter of time that ICL players will be able to play in domestic cricket in the country and who knows, they may be included in the national team very soon.

Let us not be get too much carried away with the strong team from Pakistan. Indian team has some quality players And they performed well in the recently concluded twenty20 tournament. India is all is famous for batting instant and the current Indian team in ICL has also some quality batsmen. What I liked about them is that they have some good fielders too. They have something to live for tonight because It has come to the media that ICL is becoming a popular event in television ratings. So, a good performance in the tournament can ensure the popularity of some players. But good performance can also bring a lot of money for them to as it is becoming a popular TV event in India.

Arsenal vs Dynamo Kyiv Preview, Live Score: Champions League 08-09

Struggling Arsenal will face Ukrainian giant Dynamo Kyiv at home on Tuesday in a group stage meeting of Champions League. Neither side can go into the match full of confidence thanks to their recent form. Arsenal lost to Aston Villa and Manchester City in their recent two premier league outings, while Dynamo Kyiv was beaten by defending champion of Ukrainian premier league Shakhtar Donetsk last week. Arsenal will be looking for compensation against Dynamo Kyiv for their recent home defeat to Aston Villa in premier league. For Dynamo Kyiv, a victory at Emirates stadium is badly needed for qualifying into the round of 32.

Match: Arsenal vs Dynamo Kyiv; Group G, UEFA Champions League 2008-09

Date: 25 November 2008, Tuesday

Venue: Emirates Stadium, London

Kick off: 19:45 BST (British Standard Time)

Arsenal is perhaps going through a tough time both on and off the field and this is perhaps worst time since Arsene Wenger joined the club in 1996. Arsenal slumped to their fifth premier league defeat last night when Manchester City thrashed Arsenal 3-0 at home. Wenger boys frustrated the home fans in the previous weekend when Asto Villa pulled off a 2-0 victory at Emirates stadium. With the disappointing performance at Manchester City that saw Arsenal suffering two back-to-back league defeats, Arsenal has slipped to the fifth position in the league table with 23 points from 14 matches, 10 points behind the leader Chelsea. Regarding Arsenal’s recent sluggish form Telegraph reported:

For the first time in Arsene Wenger’s long and distinguished career as manager of this club, Arsenal are slipping into disarray. The captain, William Gallas, has been stripped of his role and dropped for exposing a dressing room divided, and for the second week running they were comprehensively outplayed by a club that want to take Arsenal’s position in the food chain.

As I earlier mentioned that Arsenal is going through a rough patch of time both on and off the field. The off field turmoil at Arsenal camp is definitely one of the major cause of concern for Arsenal at these moment ahead of the European fixture against Dynamo Kyiv. William Gallas was stripped of captaincy and was ruled out of the trip to Manchester City last night for claiming lack of determination and courage among the team mates after the loss to Aston Villa. However, Arsene Wenger does not want to give much thought about it and he does not think that Gallas’ absence against Manchester City played any role behind their sloppy performance against Manchester City. Moreover, the manager also sees William Gallas has a future at Arsenal.

BBC reported:

"Of course he has a future at the club, but the less we talk the better it is," manager Wenger told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"We can change a captain without having to make a political issue of it."

Well, I do not know whether Arsene Wenger will rope in William Gallas for the match against Dynamo Kyiv or not, but one thing is for sure that they will have to come to terms with a number of injuries. Theo Walcott is injured out for at least three months after sustaining a dislocated shoulder while training with England national team ahead of the Germany friendly. Moreover, striker Emmanuel Adebayor is also out with injury that he suffered while representing Togo. Two defenders Bacary Sagna and Kolo Toure missed the match against Manchester City due to injury and I am not sure if they will be available for the match against Dynamo Kyiv. With 8 points from 4 matches, Arsenal just needs a draw to ensure a place in the round of 32, while Dynamo Kyiv needs to pick up at least 1 point from the match in order to keep the hope of qualifying into the knock out stage alive.

I am not going to pick up either side as favorite because neither Arsenal nor Dynamo Kyiv is at their best at this moment. Either side can win the match. Arsenal will have home advantage, while Dynamo Kyiv will be gearing up to clinch a victory in order to keep their hope of going into the knock out stage alive. Anyway, I just hope that football fans will get to watch an exciting match.

Intel Core i7: Some Reelections

I was reading the report about Intel Core i7 in the website Asia Cnet. I recommend you to read this entry because it contains some important information about the fastest processor in the whole world. Intel is the market leader in the process segment and the company is bringing out new models on a regular basis. The race for bringing of the fastest processor in the world is going on for many years and Another company called AMD is also trying to do the same thing. But so, I think that the arrival of this Intel Core i7 will surely post the interest about Intel among the consumers and it may increase the sale of the company in the time of recession.

Sania Mirza 2008: Going Nowhere?

The year 2008 is finishing. It seems that Sania Mirza is not doing anything these days. There is hardly any news about her. She is at her worst ranking and form. I wonder what she is thinking about Australian Open 2009. It is the first grand slam event in Tennis and the fans are expecting a lot from heart to perform in this event. So, I feel that she should have good match practice from now on but the bad news is that because of lack of sponsorship her tour of Pakistan has been postponed. So, I think that she should now try to have as much practice in India and prepare as much as she can for Australian open tennis.

ICL Chairman Kapil Dev Shocked at BCCI’s Move against Sir Clive Lloyd

India’s world cup winning captain Kapil Dev has overly criticized BCCI for making a move against West Indian legend Sir Clive Lloyd. At a promotional event in Mumbai, Clive Lloyd hoped to see Indian Cricket League (ICL) and BCCI-sanctioned Indian Premier League (IPL) co-exist. He also saw no problem with ICL and BCCI having a dialogue. After this came out in the media, BCCI officially lodged a complain at ICC against Clive Lloyd and called for his removal as chairman of the cricket committee of ICC.

Kapil Dev, the chairman of ICL, was also present at that promotional event. Having acknowledged about BCCI’s complain against former West Indian great Clive Lloyd, Kapil Dev made no delay to criticize the move. He questioned if Clive Lloyd had his own independence to express his opinion about a cricket related issue as one of the legendary figure of the game. Kapil Dev thinks BCCI forgot the stature of Clive Lloyd in Cricket, and if ICC makes any move against Clive Lloyd upon BCCI’s complain, then, Kapil thinks, ICC should appoint only those people who would abide by BCCI.

Villarreal vs Manchester United Preview, Live Score: Champions League 08-09

Villarreal vs Manchester United Champions League 08-09 Updates

Manchester United takes on Spanish club Villarreal at the Estadio El Madrigal, Villarreal, in an important Group E match of Champions League on 25 November 2008. Both teams can ensure their qualification for the round of 16 thanks to a draw in the match as they already have 8 points to their credit from previous 4 matches. Another point from the match would see both Manchester United and Villarreal going into the knock out stage. There is another thing I found similar in both the teams is there very recent form. Manchester United drew with Aston Villa on the road last night, while Villarreal was handed their first league defeat by Valladolid at home on the same day.

Match: Villarreal vs Manchester United; Group E, UEFA Champions League 2008-09

Date: 25 November 2008, Tuesday

Venue: Estadio El Madrigal, Villarreal

Kick off: 19:45 BST (British Standard Time)

With 25 points from 13 outings, Manchester United secures third position in the league table, despite last night’s goalless draw at Aston Villa. The good thing for Manchester United is that they have come out of their shaky form that they showed initially in the season. They are leading the Group E point table of Champions League with 8 points from 4 outings thanks to 2 wins and 2 draws. In the last Champions League fixture, Manchester United drew with Celtic on the road. Sir Alex Ferguson will miss two of his top guns: Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown, for the match against Villarreal.

Telegraph reported:

Berbatov, who suffered a hamstring injury during an international friendly against Serbia on Wednesday in Belgrade, is also unlikely to figure in Ferguson’s plans in their Champions League group game against Villarreal next week.

Meanwhile, defender Brown has had an exploratory ankle operation and is likely to be sidelined until Christmas.

A disappointed Ferguson added: “He’ll be missing for a few weeks now. No time-scale on it, but I would have thought maybe four weeks, maybe five weeks.”

Villarreal also stands third in their domestic league table with 25 points from 12 matches including 7 wins, 4 draws and the only defeat to Real Valladolid. Villarreal has equal 8 points of Manchester United in Group E of Champions League, but they secure the second place on goal difference. Villarreal drew with Danish club Aalborg BK on the road in their last match in Europe. Villarreal will be looking to mount on the goalless draw they managed against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in September. Like Manchester United, Villarreal will also miss two important players: defender Diego Godin and striker Joseba Llorente due to injury.

Sky Sports reported:

Godin suffered a muscle blow to his left leg while playing for Uruguay against France on Wednesday and needs a minimum of two weeks to recuperate.

Meanwhile Llorente is set to be sidelined for around a month with a torn thigh muscle sustained in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Malaga.

Villarreal is a strong side at home, even though they suffered their only league defeat so far this season at home. I think, Manchester United may not find Villarreal easier to break than Aston Villa. Following the recent home defeat, Villarreal will look to refurbish their home pride against Manchester United with a victory, while Manchester United will not mind coming out with a point from the match in what would ensure one of the last 16 spots for Manchester United. However, to achieve a point against Villarreal, Manchester United players need to be up to the mark. So, I guess, there could be an exciting match between Villarreal and Manchester United with both sides looking to achieve a spot in the knock out stage of Champions League.
