iPods, MP3 players and Earphones are responsible for hearing loss?

The increasing popularity of entertainment devices like iPods, MP3 players and earphones are being responsible for hearing loss of teenagers.

Study reveals that 30% of American teenagers have some level of hearing loss. The amount of slight hearing loss has increased more than the late 80s and early 90s in the past 15 years. Researchers also said that the number of mild or worse hearing loss has increased by 70%.

Out of every five teens, one suffers by slight hearing loss. It affects their ability of learning, speech perception, social skills development and self-image. Out of twenty youths, one, who is aged between the ages of 12 and 19, has to suffer more several losses. It may affect the youth to listen and learn.

This report was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston did the study of hearing loss. Nearly 5000 adolescents’, who are aged between 12 and 19, had been observed with their hearing screened as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, in 1988-94 and 2005-06.

According to a study in Australia, the use of headphones in portable music player increased the risk of hearing loss 70%. It is believed by many experts is that the use of such headphones is the primary cause of hearing loss in teens.

What is noted is that it can take years or decades to develop the hearing loss from noise exposure.

Now, readers should feel interest to know how they can keep themselves safe from hearing loss. However, they do not need to give up their MP3 players or iPods. What they need to do is to keep the volume neither in loud voice nor in low.

However, teenagers can lost their hearing ability for other reasons too. It may be genetics, medicines, head trauma and loud noises. On the other hand, anyone can lose his or her hearing ability because of ear infection too.

Intel’s next generation chips will be able to play Blu-ray 3D

The Sandy Bridge CPUs and GPUs will be made using the 32-nanometer process, while with current chips, the CPU and GPU are made using the 32-nm process and the 45-nm process, respectively.

Pakistan sees the worst Test defeat in their history

England has clinched the four-match Test series 3-1 with an innings and 225 run victory over Pakistan cricket team in the fourth and final test match at Lord’s.

However, Pakistan cricket team could reduce their defeat margin 1-3 winning the third test match by four wickets at the Oval. It is pathetic to see that Pakistan failed to level the series 2-2.

Orkut lost its top position to Facebook in India: comScore says

The increasing popularity of social networking site, Facebook, has overtaken Google’s Orkut in India this year. Now, it is number one ranked website with 20.9 million visitors in July in India. It sees 179 percent rises on a year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, Orkut is now the second popular social networking site with 20 million unique visitors in July in India. It saw 16 percent growth during the same period.

It has been revealed through a latest report by the market research company, comScore.

The growth of Orkut has been dormant. Over the past five years, this figure has risen 1% to 55 million unique visitors in July. Following its rapid growth of 55% Facebook has received 571 million unique visitors in July. Rival social networking site, MySpace, saw its fell 21% to 98 million unique visitors in July.

Orkut was the dominant social networking site in India until Facebook has surpassed it to take the top position. It had been ruling millions of hearts in India for year, but within a matter of one year, it has changed and the favorite tag has gone towards fiercely popular Facebook.

AT&T will bring Sony Ericsson Vivaz in the US

LG will sell 6 million smartphones with 30% will run Windows 7

This year, LG will sell 6 million smartphones where 30% will run Windows 7 operating system and the rest of 70% will run Google’s Android operating system.

Out of 20 sets of smartphones that LG plans to release, 15 phones will use Android while the remaining 5 will be operated with Windows Phone 7.

According to the executive, LG will make 4.2 million phones based on Android while 1.8 million phones will use Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system.

An LG spokesman said, "We can't exactly predict the market. But one thing clear is LG is heavily betting on Google’s Android operating system. The number of Android phones will be more than earlier expected."

Sprint will launch Epic 4G in the US

In collaboration with Sprint Nextel, the third largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, Samsung will launch its latest 4G-capable mobile phone, Epic 4G, that will cost around $249.99 with a two-year contract and $100 rebate. Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic made upset against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic

Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic, the pair of wildcard Canadians, made a big upset after defeating the world’s top two players, Rafael Nadal of Spain and Serbian Novak Djokovic, in their Toronto Masters first round doubles match. The Canadian team won the match 5-7, 6-3 and 10-8 at centre court.

It was not an easy victory for the dream doubles team as Nadal and Djokovic won the first set 7-5, but then they lost the next two sets0 6-3, 10-8.

Winning the last three games of the second set, the twenty-year-old Pospisil and nineteen-year-old Raonic immediately gained control in the match tie-break by rolling out to a 4-0.

Before Nadal and Djokovic, tennis fans saw other top two singles players, Jimmy Connors and Arthur Ashe, who were ranked first and second respectively, joined forces in doubles 34 years ago.

After Simon Larose, Vasek Pospisil has beaten a top-15 player as a Canadian man at his home tournament in seven years. When Simon defeated Gustavo Kuerten, he was ranked No. 314 in the world at the time.

It was an exciting and nail biting match. Fans could not understand what the result is expected to be until the end of the match.

Bill Weir: The GMA co-host takes rides Bull Air Race plane

Bill Weir, the co-host of Good Morning America weekend-edition, took a ride on Red Bull Air Race plane on August 5, 2010, ahead of the weekend race in New York. It was a very exciting experience for the anchor and he was happy that he did throw up his lunch during the 6g flight over the New York race track. After the flight, Weir said, "You could see Manhattan and the skyline in the distance and then it's like this, and then like this, and like this and this. He was taking it easy on me too.....It tested my digestive system. I've got a lot of respect for these guys."

Earlier this year, Bill Weir fulfilled his dream of skydiving. Weir’s father and stepmother were amateur skydivers and frequently he used to accompany them to the nearby airstrip in his hometown known as the Aero Park.

Born in 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bill Weir received his degree in journalism and creative writing from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Weir started his TV career in 1991 as a general assignment reporter and weekend sportscaster at KAAL in Austin, Minnesota which was followed by being the sports anchor at WLUK in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He then worked as an anchor at the KABC-TV in Los Angeles from 1998-2002. During this time, he hosted the popular weekly Monday Night Live program that was aired after the Monday Night Football.

The much awaited fight between Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva took place on August 7, 2010, at UFC 117 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. Many people are now looking for the Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen fight video.

Anderson is the current Middleweight Champion and also the longest running champion in the history of UFC and the fight with Chael Sonnen was one of the toughest fights in his career. Sonnen was a formidable opponent and comes from wrestling background.

Though many fans and MMA insiders are looking forward to a rematch, it would not happen so soon. Silva will face Vitor Belfort next. The fight between Belfort and Silva was supposed to take place in April 2010 but Belfort cancelled it due to a shoulder injury.

Baana Kaathadi movie review: A movie for youth

On August 6, 2010, Tamil movie, Baana Kathadi released in theatres. The movie is directed by Badri Venkatesh and produced by Senthil Thyagarajan and T. Arjun. It stars Adharvaa as Ramesh, Prasanna as Ravi, Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Priya, Karunas, Manobala, and Mounica.

The music of the movie is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It has five tracks out of which four are solo tracks. Gangai Amaran, Na. Muthukumar, Snehan and Vaali penned the lyrics. The music of the movie was released on April 30, 2010 at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai.

Adharvaa is the son of popular Tamil actor, Murali and this is his debut movie as a lead actor.

Baana Kathadi is a movie for the youth. It tells the story of two youngsters who have passion for flying kites. The movie focuses on the spirit of kites and the excitement.

Ramesh is a poor boy who lives in the slum of North Chennai. He was never very good in studies and spends two or three years in every class he studies. He has one passion and that is flying kites. One day while chasing a kite, Ramesh bumps into Piya, a Fashion Technology student. At this time, Piya loses her pen drive which actually gets into Ramesh’s pocket. The pen drive contained important assignment for her college.

One day, while cleaning Ramesh’s clothes, his mother finds the pen drive and returns it to Piya. Piya became very happy and decides to throw a party for Ramesh and his friends. Like Ramesh, Piya is also passionate about flying kites. In this way, the two come close and fall in love. On the day, when Ramesh was about to express his love for Piya, he accidentally spilled a pack of condom which he unknowingly picked up from one of his friends. This infuriates Piya and she dumps him.

Then one day, Ramesh’s life changes forever after he witnessed the murder of an ex-MLA by Prasanna who lives in the same area. In a series of unfortunate events, Ramesh goes to jail. The movie then shows how Ramesh overcomes his obstacles.

Is Jack Wilshere ready for England National Team?

Jack Wilshere is a very talented player for Arsenal and he is considered to be one of the greatest assets of English football for the upcoming future. There is a possibility that he can make into the English national football team as Euro 2012 qualification is going to start very soon. However, not everyone is excited and Leo Spall has written about it in the Daily Mail about it.

I agree with Leo that it is very important for Jack Wilshere to get a regular starting in Arsenal’s first squad. He failed to do so last season and was loan to Bolton. This season, there is a strong possibility that he will be able to stay at Arsenal and he will not go to Bolton again. However, there is no certainty that Wilshere will be able to feature in the first eleven for Arsene Wenger in Premier League. Champions League is another event too. It is perhaps more likely that Wilshere will be more of a reserve back bench player and will feature more in FA Cup and Carling Cup rather than Premier League and Champions League. Having said so, it should be also remembered that Arsene Wenger is the coach who is likely  to give a young player like Jack Wilshere more opportunities than any other coach in Premier League. If Wilshere was at Manchester United or Chelsea or Liverpool , there would have been hardly any possibility for him to get any match experience. Under Wenger, there is more possibility.

Wilshere must work harder and try to become a regular at Arsenal in both Champions League and Premier League. If he can do so then there is strong possibility that he will be able to play in England national team.
