Suitors of Gareth Bale Increasing

Tottenham Hotspur’s rising star Gareth Bale has already become a hot property as a number of top European clubs are currently looking to secure his service. The 21-year-old Welsh international has been in sparkling form over the last one year and the left back, who is famous for his attacking intent on the left wing, is considered to be one of the best in his position in the world.

Manchester United tried to sign him this summer offering £20 million, but failed to bring Tottenham officials into negotiations. However, it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson would make another attempt to sign the youngster next summer.

Besides the Old Trafford club, Real Madrid and Chelsea are also preparing a bid for Bale. Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified the Welshman as a major reinforcement to Real Madrid squad in his bid to bring back the club’s past glory. Mourinho failed to sign Chelsea left back Ashley Cole this summer and it seems he has now turned his attention to Bale.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is also an admirer of Bale and reports suggest that he could also attempt to sign him. However, given the player’s £30 million valuation by Tottenham, it seems that only Real Madrid can afford to convince Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp to change his stance of not selling Bale.

Harry Redknapp Fully Criticized the FA over England Friendly against Hungary

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has criticized the country’s Football Federation (The FA) for arranging a friendly match against Hungary the same week Premier League season begins.

Redknapp can not understand what the benefit of this friendly match is when new season kicks off in few days. Tottenham would face Manchester City just three days after the friendly match on 11 August and he is utterly disappointed to know that he would lose some of his key players for a week just before the opening match against City at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham had 5 players in England’s World Cup squad and it is pretty much clear that Capello would call a number of Tottenham players for the Hungary match too. So, Harry Redknapp’s anger is pretty much justifiable. Missing the likes of Aaron Lennon, Peter Crouch from training for a week would be a huge blow to the North London club who also need to prepare for the Champions League qualifier.

Redknapp said to the media, “Can someone tell me why you have an international week the week the season is starting?’ fumed Redknapp. ‘Can someone tell me what that is all about? They’ve just been away as a group together to the World Cup.

They’re probably sick of the sight of each other and now they’re going to have an international week before the first week of the season, before we play Manchester City and a European qualifier…

… Why? What’s the point of it? A meaningless friendly. The week before the season, when we should be training, working, getting organised for the first game, they won’t be here.”

It seems Tottenham boss really has some logical points that FA officials should consider. It has not been two months England players played together in South Africa. It is true that England’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign is going to begin from September and Capello needs few matches to have a final look over his squad.

However, in that case, the FA should have organized the match at least two weeks before the start of the Premier League. Both the league and friendly matches are important, but the federation needs to be smart while scheduling.

Tottenham Hotspur Manager Still Tracking Luis Fabiano

Sevilla’s Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano is still a target of Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp. The 29-year-old striker has been linked with a number of clubs including Manchester United, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.

Sevilla is trying to keep their hold on the Brazilian star. However, Fabiano, after a successful World Cup campaign with Brazil, is now interested to take up new challenge. It is also pretty much understandable that Fabiano, at 29, would now like to make some cash in, knowing that this is the right time to make a significant move, most probably his last in his career.

Initially, Luis Fabiano was interested to join a club of Inter Milan’s stature. However, having seen no significant move from Inter or Manchester United, Fabiano recently indicated his desire to join Tottenham Hotspur who can offer Champions League football this season.

Redknapp, terming Fabiano a ‘top player’, has admitted that he would love to secure the Brazilian’s service. However, he dismissed any move for Real Madrid’s out-of-favor striker Raul, citing the club’s financial inability.

Raul is on the verge of leaving Real Madrid as manager Jose Mourinho has already made it clear that the Madrid legend is not part of his plan this season. Now, German club FC Schalke 04 seems to Raul’s likely destination.

Tottenham manager is also in the race of signing France international Loic Remy, but is facing competition from fellow Premier League clubs including Arsenal, West Ham United and Liverpool.

Liverpool Suffered 2-1 Defeat to Tottenham Hotspur

Just a week after Chelsea’s unbeaten streak was stopped by Liverpool, Liverpool also experienced their undefeated run in the premier league being ended last night as the All Reds were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on the road. With this defeat, Liverpool dropped to the no. 2 position in the premier league table with 23 points from 11 matches. Chelsea’s 5-0 victory over Sunderland equaled them with Liverpool in terms of points, but the Blues are leading the table on better goal difference.

For Tottenham Hotspur, it was a confidence booster performance and there is no doubt, this victory would provide enough courage and inspiration for the spurs to rebound from their poor runs in the league. Though Tottenham got off to perhaps the worst start to premier league ever this season, they are now firmly on course to come back from the relegation zone. Since the arrival of new manager Harry Redknapp, Tottenham Hotspur picked up 7 points from three matches with two wins and a morale booster draw against Arsenal.

Dirk Kuyt’s early strike after three minutes into the game brought a much-needed lead for Liverpool. Liverpool lost a number of opportunities to double their lead and hit the goal bar three times before conceding an own goal by Jamie Carragher in the 70th minute and Roman Pavlyuchenko’s last-gasp winner in the 90th minute in the match. Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said that his side was unlucky not to win the match because he believed it could have been 4-0 in their favor. For Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager could not have asked for a better start to his new managerial job at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea’s high-flying form was not affected by the home defeat to Liverpool as they thrashed Sunderland 5-0 last night. Now, let us see if Liverpool can stick to their excellent form after their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last night. Liverpool has Champions League match this week before they face West Bromwich Albion on November 8, 2008 in their next premier league match.

Inspired Tottenham Hotspur Taking on Leader Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur has earned 4 points from 2 matches since the arrival of new coach Harry Redknapp and the club fans are now hoping for a revival in their form. Tottenham Hotspur has made one of the worst ever start to premier league as they are currently at the bottom of league table with only 6 points from the opening 10 games. Redknapp’s side showed enough mental strength and confidence to draw against Arsenal 4-4 thanks to two injury time goals.

Redknapp thinks he can stay at the North London club for a long term, but all depend on the amount of success he can bring out for the club. Though Tottenham’s Brazilian goalkeeper Gomes made a number of mistakes, Redkhapp believes he possesses world class talent. After the gallant show against arch rivals Arsenal, now Tottenham Hotspur has to face Liverpool today evening at home and this is another big game for the spurs.

Captain Ledley King is expected to be fit for the Liverpool showdown after recovering from his knee injury. The manager thinks King could make an effective centre half partnership with Jonathan Woodgate in the team. Harry Redknapp termed the draw wit Arsenal as a win as his side needed come back from 4-2 deficit within two minutes. About Liverpool team, Redknapp feels the Reds are a good all round team with home-grown players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

Well, Tottenham Hotspur made a confidence booster come back against Arsenal and this would definitely inspire them in the league run, but Tottenham is still at the bottom of the table after 10 games. So, in order to avoid relegation, they have to show some impressive form against the big teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United like they did against Arsenal. Now, let us see if Tottenham Hotspur can manage at least a point from the Liverpool game in what it would be another boost in the bid to ensure their place in the premier league next season. That is what every Tottenham Hotspur fans are hoping for now.

Arsenal Facing a Different Football away at Stroke City

Arsenal is going to face Stoke City away at the evening today. After a disappointing 4-4 stalemate against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the previous league encounter, Arsenal is looking for a confidence-booster performance against Stroke City, knowing the fact that they would face a side that plays different football. Stoke City has grown a habit of scoring from long throw-ins. Rory Delap has already attracted attention of premier league fans for his long throw-ins which resulted in goals for a few occasions.

Arsenal’s fragile defense seems to be their main problem. For the last few games, Arsenal back four were underperformed with Kolo Toure losing his place due to his off-form of recent. Another important thing that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must take into consideration ahead of the match is the kind of football that Stroke City plays. The Gunners will have to adapt to physical football of Stroke City whom Wenger aggress is very dangerous on set-pieces. However, Wenger does not want to put much focus on the threat posed by Stroke City’s long throw-in prowess. Rather, the Frenchman thinks Arsenal should try to dominate and score goals against Stroke City.

Telegraph reported:

"I believe the most important thing is for us to have the ball and put them under pressure. We have to attack the ball in the air and not make too much fuss about it. They score maybe one like that every two months and it is not like a penalty. It is a throw-in and we cannot get obsessed by that. We need to try and dominate the game and score goals."

Wenger did not deny that Arsenal’s 4-4 draw against Tottenham Hotspur was disappointing, but he is hopeful his players will continue their title run. Well, to make the fans and their manager happy, Arsenal players need to make a strong come back and show that they know how to dominate over others. Arsenal lost the North London derby even after leading 4-2 after 90 minutes, but two injury time goals by Tottenham left Arsenal stunned. With 10 points, Arsenal is now in the 3rd position in the league table with 20 points. They North London club is still 6 points behind league leader Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger Adamant to Keep Arsenal in the Title Race

Arsenal drew with Tottenham Hotspur 4-4 in a hard-fought North London derby on Wednesday after conceding two goals in the last two minutes of the match. The Gunners were leading 4-2 after 90 minutes and it seemed Arsenal was going to pick up three pints easily, but two injury time strikes from Tottenham Hotspur left Arsenal with one point from the match. With this draw, Arsenal has further dropped points in their bid to retain the premier league title this season. Arsenal fans as well as the players could not believe the score line and were frustrated by the result against their cross town rivals.

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still sees hope in their title bid and is hopeful Arsenal will bounce back strongly. Though he admitted that Arsenal players could not believe the result of the match and were disappointed with this, Wenger thinks his players are united and they want to be winner.

Goal.com reported:

"We were all very disappointed [after the Tottenham game],” he said to the club's official website. “The mood in the dressing room was of disbelief and frustration. But the players are united, passionate and want to win.

"They are in this together, they want to be winners together. We have a long way to go and we are all determined to show that we can fight for this title together.”

"Yes it's not all bad but it is disappointing. Our run is going on and I would say the future of our season lies in how much we learn from games like that.

"We have fantastic potential but the future of the team is about what we do with that potential. We want to address that very quickly and respond."

Arsenal lost two games and drew twice in their opening 10 games of this season and they are currently in the 3rd position in league table with 20 points, six points clear of leader Liverpool in the league table. Arsenal has got off to a mixed start to the season. Sometimes Arsenal showed their imperious form, while they looked fragile sometimes. There is no doubt, Arsenal must show consistency in their performance if they want them to keep in the title race.

Manchester United Worried about Dimitar Berbatov Deal

Manchester United clinched a narrow margin victory over Portsmouth this week which manager Alex Ferguson considers an excellent performance, considering the previous experiences of suffering setbacks at Portsmouth. However, Ferguson is now worried about the likely deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Manchester United has been tracking Berbatov all through the Summer, but still the club could not yet come under an agreement with Tottenham for a possible move of Berbatov. Tottenham is demanding more than £30 million, while Manchester United raised their offer up to £25 million so far after a series of negotiations. However, Tottenham has taken a strong position on this regard.

Meanwhile, Berbatov sat out for Tottenham’s home defeat to Sunderland last weekend. The reason for which Berbatov was absent in the squad was that he was considered psychologically unfit. Manager Juande Ramos said that he would assess the condition of Berbatov in the training before deciding over Berbatov’s inclusion in the squad for the next match against Chelsea.

So, I think, a likely deal for Dimitar Berbatov is not yet confirmed yet. Now, let us see if Manchester United can really manage to complete the deal before the Summer transfer window closes.

Tottenham Determined to Receive £32m from Manchester for Dimitar Berbatov

Dramas are going on over Manchester United’s expected deal with Tottenham Hotspur for their Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. Recently, Daniel Levy accused Manchester United of making illegal approach for the Bulgaria international who scored 46 goals in 101 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur. The base of their allegation is a report of The Sun quoting Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson which he later denied.

Now, Spurs owner Daniel Levy demands £32 million for the striker who joined Tottenham two years back on a £10.9 million deal from German club Bayer Leverkusen. Tottenham even officially complained to Premier League about it. The three-member premier league panel inquiring the matter asked Tottenham to provide with undisputable proof in favor of their claim.

Tottenham Hotspur is believed to be enraged by Manchester United’s intense pushing towards Tottenham to accelerate the deal as early as possible. Recently, United revealed their interest to Barcelona striker Thierry Henry which could reportedly be another attempt to push Tottenham towards the deal. Meanwhile, Dimitar Berbatov himself is very much eager to join Manchester United looking to play in Champions League next season. Still, it is believed that Manchester United has reached at the stage to sign the striker and it is very likely to complete the signing by the end of this month.

The Recent Form of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea is still active in all the competitions in both home and abroad. Aside from, Carling Cup, Chelsea have recently confirm their FA Cup quarter final berth after projecting a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town. They ended up with a goalless draw in their Champions League last 16 first leg tie with Greek club Olympiakos Piraeus. So, ahead of second leg home match, Chelsea has an edge over their opponent. Last but not least, Chelsea is still in the title race of Premier league with eight points behind the leader Arsenal at the top of the point table. So, you may think that Chelsea is in great form this season. However, the fact is that their performance is not that much impressive though they are consistently picking up three points and getting the necessary victories.

Chelsea has gone through a string of injury blows half way the season with missing even eight regular members of the squad at times when their African stars were on international duty in African Nations Cup. On this perspective, Chelsea’s performance has been praiseworthy so far this season as they still have chance to win every competition possible in a season.

Tottenham Hotspur got a nightmarish start this season. At one stage, they are around the relegation zone. Following the sack of manager Martin Jol and the entrance of Juande Ramos from Sevilla, the situation developed a lot, though not dramatically. Suprs played 26 matches so far under new manager Ramos with winning 14 and drawing 7 times. The most highlighted performance was when Tottenham Hotspur got an inspirational 5-1 home victory over their North London rivals Arsenal in the second leg of the semi final match of Carling Cup in January.

However, Chelsea is ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur in terms of their recent performance. Chelsea has five victories and three draws out of their last eight matches in all competition. Out of last eight matches, Tottenham Hotspur got five victories, two draws and a defeat to Manchester United.

The Injury News of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea
Both the sides have some injury problems ahead of the match. Tottenham Hotspur takes on Slavia Prague in the second leg match of UEFA Cup tonight and it is not yet confirmed if Suprs gives rest to some of their key players with the Carling Cup final in mind. Besides the two long term absentees Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, defender Michael Dawson is also doubtful for the Carling Cup final with hamstring injury. Kevin-Prince Boateng (hamstring), Gilberto (calf) have not recovered from their injury yet. However, Captain Ledley King is expected to return to action since his side’s 5-1 demolition of Arsenal at home. He is expected to be rested for the Slavia Prague match in order to ensure his participation in the league cup final.

Guardian reported:

Ramos followed that by stressing that the Uefa Cup tie was a priority "because it is the next match", although the Spaniard is clearly engaged in some forward thinking. Ledley King, who has not played since the 5-1 defeat of Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi-finals last month, will be on the bench with a place in the starting line-up on Sunday in mind. The England defender trained with his team-mates today, but there is an acceptance within the club that his knees will not withstand two games in such a short space of time.

Back to Chelsea, they still have injury woe, though not as severe as it was for the last few months. Chelsea captain John Terry and midfielder Frank Lampard are reportedly going to miss the final against Tottenham Hotspur. Actually their participation is not yet confirmed as there are mixed report on their participation in the league cup final. BBC reported that they were going to miss the Carling Cup final, while some other sources said both of them are taking part in the crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur. Both of them were rested for the Champions League clash with Olympiakos though they had participated in their 3-1 FA Cup fifth round victory.

BBC reported:

"(Boss) Avram Grant would not confirm their participation," said BBC football correspondent Jonathan Legard.

"But I'm told the pair are set to be left out again."

Sportbox reported:

Chelsea rested Frank Lampard and John Terry for the 0-0 draw with Olympiacos, leaving the England internationals raring to go on Sunday.

"John and I are going to be fresh and a final against Tottenham is always a game that you are going to be very excited about," Lampard said this week.

There is no other injury problems in the Chelsea squad expect the uncertainty over Terry and Lampard. African stars are also available in the squad. So, the situation is better for manager Avram Grant. He has been leading the side with sheer tactics while missing a number of key players with injury.

Tottenham Hotspur coach Juande Ramos is now delighted with the upcoming Carling Cup final against Chelsea. Ramos is said to be a Cup specialist as he won UEFA Cup and Cope del Roy with Sevilla in the last few season. However, he revealed that the Carling Cup final is going to be the biggest of his career. To him, playing at Wembley is a dream.

Goal.com reported:

"For me it is a personal dream to play at Wembley; the biggest I've had as a coach," he told the Daily Mail.
"I couldn't have imagined this. But that's not what's important. What gives me the most satisfaction is seeing how happy and excited the team, the club and the fans are. They are the ones who got us here.

Wembley is one of the biggest stadiums in the world and sitting on the officials’ bench at Wembley is certainly prestigious for any coach. I think, Avram Grant might have the same feeling about the match.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in Carling Cup
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are two of the most successful teams in the history of Carling Cup. Tottenham won the league cup trophy for three times, while Chelsea lifted the trophy for four times. Chelsea’s recent performance in Carling Cup is really impressive with winning the trophy twice in the three seasons including the last season’s victory. Chelsea is the defending champions of the tournament and it is going to be the third Carling Cup final in four years. The last time, Tottenham Hotspur won the trophy was in 1999. Since then, their best performance in the league cup was in 2002 where they lost to Blackburn Rovers in the final.

If you go back to history for the head to head clash between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, you will find Chelsea in dominant form with 21 victories out of their last 28 meetings in all competitions. Tottenham lost three out of their last four matches against Chelsea while the other match was draw. The last time, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea was in 2006 premier league. It is really very hard to predict about the possible winner of the league cup final, despite the history is in favor of Chelsea. Actually, it is going to be a different match, which has no relation to their previous performances. Those who play well will be the winner- this could be the best possible way to conclude. However, I think, Chelsea has a slight edge over the Tottenham Hotspur considering the fitness. Anyway, it would not be fair to think that Ramos boys will make the task easier for Chelsea. In fact, Tottenham Hotspur will atone for the revenge of their recent premier league defeat to Chelsea. So, I hope to see a mouth watering match between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Juande Ramos Not Resting Any Player for the UEFA Cup Tie with Slavia Prague

Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos said that he had no plan to rest some of his key players for the UEFA Cup last 32 second leg match against Slavia Prague on tomorrow night with considering the Carling Cup final of next weekend. Actually, Tottenham Hotspur is going to play in a final of competitive tournament in nine years. So, it was expected that he would rest some of his players thinking off the final match of Carling Cup. Their 2-1 lead of the first leg match has made the situation easier for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the second leg home match. Even a draw will see them go into the next round. So, there was every possibility of giving rest to some of the key players for the Carling Cup final.

Juande Ramos, however, denied having any such plan ahead of the match. In fact, their opponent of the Carling Cup final, Chelsea, rested a few players for their Champions league last 16 match against Olympiakos thinking of the Carling Cup final. However, Ramos expressed that he gave more priority to UEFA Cup match.

Guardian reported:

"The Uefa Cup, as a competition, is a priority and we have to try to beat Slavia," he said. "After that, we have three days to prepare for the final and we'll select the players depending upon how tired they are. Obviously Sunday will be a very beautiful and passionate game for the club and the fans, as it's been such a long time since we were in a final, but a European final would always be more important than a final in a domestic cup competition."

However, Veteran Ledley King might not feature in the UEFA Cup match as it will be risky for his knee to feature him in two important matches within such a short time. So, it expected that he will be given rest to ensure his participation in the Cup final. Ramos is yet to confirm his starting line up goal keeper for UEFA Cup match. He said that both Paul Robinson and Radek Cerny have equal chance to be drafted in the match. The final line up will be released just few hours before the start of the match.

Tottenham Hotspur Signed Alan Hutton from Glasgow Rangers

Tottenham Hotspur has signed Scottish defender Alan Hutton through a reported deal of about 9 million pounds with Glasgow Rangers. The signeing was completed on Wednesday. Hutton,23, has played six international matches for Scotland so far. The right back is one of the two new defenders Tottenham Hotspur signed in the January transfer window.

Earth Times reported:

We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Glasgow Rangers for the transfer of Alan Hutton," Tottenham said in a statement.

Hutton, who will join Jonathan Woodgate in a new-look defence at Spurs, could make his debut for the club against Manchester United this weekend.

I think, Tottenham Hotspur will have a strong defense now. Their performance is not satisfactory in premier league. However, they have defeated Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi final booking a place in the final. Tottenham Hotspur will try their best to perform well in the remainder of the English Premier League this season.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are lining up to face each other on next weekend in the fourth round match of FA Cup 2007-2008. The match will be held at Manchester Untied home ground, Old Trafford, on 27 January. Having defeated Reading away in their last premier league match, Manchester United could held on atop the league point table. Manchester United has more reasons to cheer on as their in form midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo keeps on scoring. So, Manchester United is now at great form.

Tottenham Hotspur has not been great in the premier league so far. However, after their recent 5-1 demolition of Arsenal at the home ground, which confirmed their Carling Cup final place, must have boost up their confidence level. Tottenham is now in the 11th place of the league table with 27 points to their credit after, while Manchester United is leading the league table with 54 points.

Manchester Untied faced lots of problems to find their right track. However, as soon as Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez appeared with their prime form, Manchester United also found the right path in the premier league. Since then, Manchester has continued their impressive run and now they are atop the league standings, leaving Arsenal behind by goal difference.

Manchester Untied remained unbeaten to Tottenham Hotspur for 13 matches, with their last defeat to the Suprs going back to 2001. Manchester Untied emerged winner in 11 out of those 13 previous matches against Tottenham Hotspur. The fact can make Manchester United fans happy. However, for those who have already started cheering on, please note that Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-1 victory over their rivals Arsenal came after nine years or 21 matches. So, Tottenham Hotspur seems to be at their great form. So, Manchester United can not be at relaxed mode at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Fox Sports reported:

United has won the FA Cup four times since Tottenham won the last of its then-record eight titles in 1991.

And as well as having to overcome the exertions of Tuesday, Tottenham will be up against a team that leads the Premier League and, unlike the Gunners, is likely to field its strongest available lineup.

"We've got a good squad of players and I think we're improving in certain aspects of our play," United manager Alex Ferguson said.

Tottenham Hotspur will definitely travel to Old Trafford for victory, even though they know that it would not be an easy task to defeat Manchester United at their home ground, while the players like Ronaldo, Rooney are in great form. Tottenham Hotspur will feature Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov up front as the dup made a lethal combination against Arsenal at home. The side includes some experienced and skilled players. The players like Jermain Defoe, captain Ledley King can play a big part for the Tottenham. However, Defoe has lesser chance to make it to the starting line up.

Edwin van der Sar, Manchester goalkeeper, has already started to study Tottenham strikers having seen their imperious form just in the last match. The veteran goalkeeper is trying to know about the players, their skills etc.

Goal.com reported:

“You need a lot of information and we watch DVDs to help us prepare," he said.

“You need to learn whether a player is left or right footed... [and] what does he do in a one-on-one situation - stand me up or go around me?”

“In England you get bullied at corners a lot,” he began. "Forwards try to bang into you or stop you from going to get the ball. You have to protect yourself and use your whole body. You also need to learn when to go for the ball and when to stay.”

Naturally, when a side defeats a team like Arsenal with such a big margin, they come into the focus. It is really praiseworthy effort by the Manchester United goal keeper that he is seriously studying his opponent players to find out the way to stop them. I think, Tottenham strikers will find it more difficult to score against Manchester Untied in the fourth round FA Cup match.

If you consider the recent form of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, then you can easily realize that the two premier league clubs are going to present an exciting match as both the clubs are in good form and their confidence level is high. It is true that Manchester United will have home advantage, but, to me, that might not affect on the performance of Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal Carling Cup: Live Score and Live Updates

http://techblogbiz.blogspot.com/2008/01/tottenham-hotspur-vs-arsenal-carling_22.html

After clinching a smashing 3-0 victory over Fulham away on Saturday, Arsenal has accumulated all their focus on Tuesday’s second leg match of Carling Cup semi final against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Though the first leg match was ended up with a 1-1 result at the Emirates Stadium, Tottenham United has an advantage ahead of the second leg at their home ground. Tottenham scored in the away match meaning even if the second leg match ends up with a goal less draw, they will edge past Arsenal to get into the final of Carling Cup 2007-2008.

So, Arsenal either has to win the match or score more than 1 goal even if the match ends up with a draw. Added to that, Arsenal has to play away at the White Hart Lane stadium in front of their rival fans. Actually, this is the third North London derby of the season. Aside from the first leg match of Carling Cup semi final, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur faced each other on two occasions in English premier league this season, with Arsenal winning both times.

Tottenham United started the nightmarish start in the season. Overcoming all the setbacks, Tottenham has been improving at this moment. Tottenham stands 12th in the league point table with 27 points. In their last six matches in the league, they won three and lost in the others. However, their performance at home including five victories in their last six home matches is satisfactory.

Arsenal, on the other hand, has been impressive throughout the season. They have lost only one match so far in Premier league this season. Without any star footballer in the squad, Arsene Wenger has proved his worth once again, leading Arsenal atop the point table most of the time in the season. Though Arsenal is now second to Manchester United in the league standing by goal difference, Arsenal also has 54 points.

Arsenal had a 1-1 draw against Birmingham City last week, which pushed them down in the league standing. After that disappointing draw, something like a 3-0 victory was needed for Arsenal against Fulham in order to boost up their confidence level. So, Arsene Wenger is happy with the performance of his side.

Telegraph reported:

"Overall I'm very happy with the way we responded to our 1-1 draw last week," said Arsene Wenger. "This shows that the team really want to do it and that after such a disappointing result they can come back in a very strong way. We gave a strong response and I feel we controlled the game for 90 minutes."

Arsenal’s young forward, Theo Walcott, was absent in their 3-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday. Coach Arsene Wenger has hinted that Walcott is going to play in the center of Arsenal attack in stead of playing in the wing. It is thought that Wenger rested his young gun against Fulham, in order to give Walcott some time to prepare himself for the new position ahead of the second leg match of Carling Cup semi final.

Reuters reported:

"I think he is waiting to play in the centre and that is where he will be happiest because he is a direct player, he has good timing for his runs and I believe he will do well," Wenger told reporters ahead of the game at Craven Cottage.

The Arsenal manager, who famously switched Thierry Henry from the wing to a central role, explained that Walcott had been omitted from the squad for Saturday's game so he could prepare for Tuesday's League Cup semi-final at rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"He will get a chance up front but he is not in the squad for Fulham because we play again on Tuesday and some have to practise to play on Tuesday," added Wenger.

Tottenham Hotspur eased past Sunderland in their recent league match. So, they must be inspired ahead of another North London Derby on Tuesday at their home ground. In their 2-0 victory against Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur vice-captain, Robbie Keane celebrated his 100th goal for Tottenham. So, he will be inspired to put on a match winning performance against Arsenal.

Well, Arsenal has been at their great form halfway the season whereas their cross-town rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, is also gearing up for better performance, leaving past their poor form. What is more, statistics, recent form and many other things become meaningless when it comes to a North London Derby. So, I do not go for any prediction regarding the result of the match. Rather, I would like to say that football fans are going to experience an exciting match on Tuesday.

What do you think about the match?
