Aaron Ramsey: Hungry for Success at Arsenal

By this time, you must have known that I am a big Arsenal fan. One of the reasons that I support the Gunners so passionately is Arsene Wenger. Yes, I am perhaps his one of the biggest fans in South Asia. I like his philosophy and I hope to emulate it in my own field and in my own life. Aaron Ramsey also understood the value of Wenger and that is why he decided to join Arsenal instead of Manchester United despite being a Man United fan. He understood that with Wenger, he had good prospect of playing and he has already taken part in League Cup, Champions League and Premier League. However, he is still a substitute player and it is some difficult for him to make into the first eleven because he has to compete with players like Fabregas, Nasri, Arshavin and Theo Walcott for a place in midfield.
In a long interview with BBC, Ramsey has stated his desire for becoming a regular player in the first eleven. Well, I liked his attitude. He knows that it is not easy and he is ready to work very hard and practice a lot in training sessions. He said that he would try to work harder and make the best out of the opportunities he gets to play for the club whether it is in the first eleven or as a substitute player. Ramsey is going to be 19 soon and the fans hope that he will be another Fabregas for the club soon.

Andrei Arshavin: Can be the Hero Against Tottenham Tomorrow?

Why I am saying tomorrow? In my city, it is already 31 October 2009 and not even 24 hours left before the start of the match. Arsene Wenger hopes that Arshavin will be the man in the match who will change everything for the Gunners. Arsenal is really lucky to have him. He has all the qualities that a top striker should have. He is always keen to get goals. Do you remember that last season, he scored 4 goals against Liverpool and this performance put him in the heart of every fan of this club. Yes, he has the ability. Recently, he is playing great for his national team too.
So, I think that Wenger is right to put faith on him for the London Derby match tomorrow. What I like about him is the matter that not only he can score goals but he is also good at assisting others. He is not a selfish player.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview and Live Score: EPL 2009-10

Arsenal is going to host Tottenham Hotspur in a much-awaited North London derby on Saturday (31 October 2009) in the premier league. Both sides are looking to exploit on the opposition’s weak sides and are determined to pick up 3 points. Arsenal and Tottenham had a long history of football rivalry. Whenever they face each other, it adds an additional dimension to their encounter and fans expect some inspirational football from both sides. Last season’s corresponding fixture saw the match being ended up in a 4-4 draw. This time the match is more important because both sides are level on points, though Arsenal takes the 3rd place on goal difference, and a victory would reduce the gap with leader Chelsea. Overall, the match seems to be full of excitement with both sides looking to win the game at any cost.
Match: Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur; English Premier League 2009-10
Date: 31 October 2009
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Kick off: 12:45 GMT
Live TV and Radio: Sky Sports 1, BBC Radio 5 Live
Arsenal lost 2 points last week as they drew 2-2 with another London club West Ham United, even though they were leading 2-0 in the game at one point. However, that frustration must have been diminished after Wednesday’s excellent 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Carling Cup. So, Arsenal will be full of confidence while taking on Tottenham before the home crowd.

The good thing is that Arsenal has a number of players back in action and manager Arsene Wenger would now have plenty of players to choose form. It could be a sweet headache for the manager, but this shows that Gunners would have some quality players on the bench and this is really something satisfactory for any manager.

Tottenham Hotspur has been in excellent form since the start of the season. Out of 10 games, Tottenham clinched 6 wins, 3 defeats and a draw and Redknapp’s side are now eyeing on a top four finish this season in what would ensure them a Champions League place next season. It is true that last week’s home defeat at the hands of Stoke City must have cut on their confidence level, but the League Cup victory over Everton in the midweek must have retained some confidence.

The upcoming affair could be a high scoring match as it was last season because both sides have been in excellent scoring form. Arsenal has scored 29 goals, highest in premier league this season, while Tottenham also scored 21 goals.

BBC reported:
The Gunners are the league's top scorers, but they have shipped more goals at this stage than in any other Premier League season, while Spurs have been crashing in goals for fun. All the evidence points to a repeat of last season's epic 4-4 draw - neutrals will have their fingers crossed history repeats itself.

Both sides have some injury woes and a number of regular players on both camps could miss the upcoming North London derby. However, both sides would bring back some of their key players who were rested for the midweek victories in Carling Cup. Arsenal would feature the players like Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin who did not play in their 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday in the league cup. Midfielder Samir Nasri, striker Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo survived Wednesday’s league cup test unharmed after recovering from their injuries. So, they would also be Wenger’s mind while taking on the city rivals on Saturday.

Sky Sports reported:
However, Lukas Fabianski is set to be sidelined for around three weeks with a thigh complaint and Theo Walcott (knee), Denilson (back) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) are all still out.
Tomas Rosicky has failed to recover from a knee complaint in time to feature, while Wenger must decide whether to bring back senior goalkeeper Manuel Almunia or keep faith with Vito Mannone.

I think, Wenger could bring back Manuel Almunia for the no. 1 spot as the Spaniard has got over his injury. It is less likely that Arsenal would bring any change in their back line that boasts of Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen and Clichy. Arsenal midfield would definitely feature captain Cesc Fabregas. Eboue, Diaby and Song could play in the midfield, while their attacking line up would have Van Persie and Arshavin.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has also got to deal with some injury problems. Jermain Defoe would miss out the Arsenal trip as he is going to serve the third of his three-match suspension. Roman Pavlyuchenko would also be in the bench and midfielder Luka Modric has not got over his leg fracture. Jonathan Woodgate is uncertain with a head injury sustained in last week’s home loss against Stoke City. Aaron Lennon has not fully recovered from his ankle injury. David Bentley could expect to retain his place in Tottenham’s first team after an excellent performance in the 2-0 league cup victory over Everton recently.

Arsenal seems to be favorite, given their recent scoring form and home advantage, but Arsene Wenger and his team can not take Tottenham lightly, considering last season’s game at the Emirates Stadium. One thing seems pretty much certain that football fans are going to enjoy an exciting game which will be full of action. As a highly-anticipated derby match, player on both sides would face some problems in holding their nerve. So, both sides would look to win physically as well as psychologically.

Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan complemented each other in London Dreams

After ten years, we see two talented actors- Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan once again on the big screen and this time they do not disappoint their fans. London Dreams is about how two friends- one possessing passion and the other talent, who turn against each other and reunites at the end. The main theme of the story is inspired from Amadeus, the Hollywood movie that won eight Oscars. The story starts from the village of India. Mannu (Salman Khan) and Arjun (Ajay Devgan) were childhood friends but they had nothing in common except their family’s musical background. Arjun then goes to London and forms a band but things do not change until he brings Mannu from Punjab.

The London Dreams is an enjoyable but it has some flaws and the biggest of all is its music. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music does not complement the movie.

Bollywood Hungama said:

LONDON DREAMS is about a rock band, about music, about concerts and the music had to be the soul of the film. Unfortunately, it's not! The songs have been filmed in the most energetic fashion, but how one wishes the music was one of the strengths of the film.

Also, the film could've concluded when the two friends re-unite at the station. Adding one more song thereafter only dilutes the impact of the emotionally correct sequence that has just been witnessed. Besides, the song in question hasn't been promoted either, so it only comes across as an aberration.

Salman Khan is a talented actor and when it comes to play characters that have intense emotions, he can play it with great ease and spontaneity. Ajay Devgan’s performance was also very well. The two actors just complemented each other in the movie. Asin, who played Priya and looks great with Salman Khan on the screen. Overall, London Dreams is worth your money al the way.

Sports37 has now Google Page Rank 4

First of all, I would like to thank everyone. Today, Google updated its page rank and I was very happy to see that Sports37 has now got a new PR of 4. Until yesterday, it was 3. So, it is a happy news for us. We are working hard and trying to make it a very useful and informative blog for the sports fans. It was created on November 2008 but after that it suffered a number of setbacks. We could not predict that it would become a very successful blog and the hosting package we had could not give adequate support.
We had some other problems too. As a result, last 3 months, the traffic of the blog suffered too much. This month, Sports37 has been able to make a strong come back and we are hoping to get 100,000 page views in October 2009. It is a big success for any blog.
Thanks to all of you for your generous support. We hope that we can continue our effort to provide you quality content.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Aladin failed to live up to its promise

Amitabh Bachchan’s latest movie Aladin is out in the theatres today and the movie is a great family entertainer. Adults may not find it very exciting but it is an overall enjoyable movie. The movie has some great CGI affects and it opens up with a great promise but fails to keep it till the end. Aladin tells the story of Aladin Aladin Chatterjee (Riteish Deshmukh), who lives in the city of Khwaish. He is an orphan boy and has always been bullied by Kasim and his gang. Aladin’s life changes after he had obtained a magic lamp from Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandez). Aladin meets Genius- the genie who lives in the magic lamp and would grant three wishes.

The story of Aladin has lots of similarities with that of Harry Potter and it is not so enjoyable to the end. The moment Amitabh Bachchan appears on the screen it takes a different turn. Sujoy Ghosh who directed and also wrote the screenplay failed to do full justice to the movie. It has two Bollywood heavyweights like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt and a good budget. From the trailer one can understand that it is going to be a fantasy/comedy movie but the movie lacked the power keep viewers hooked till the end.

Amitabh Bachchan did a very good job with his genie character but Ritesh Deshmukh’s performance was the best among all. Sanjay Dutt played the bad guy in this movie and he was ok with his role.

India vs Australia 3rd ODI 2009: Preview and Live Score

If you want to get live score of India vs Australia 3rd ODI match then visit the link- India vs Australia 3rd ODI 2009 Live Online Action Updates.

For the cricket fans of these two countries, it has perhaps become a prestige issue. Australia won the first ODI and then India captured the second one yesterday very easily. So, now, all the fans are waiting for the result of the third match that is going to take place on this Saturday (31 October 2009). It is a holiday in both the countries. So, you can expect full house crowd in the stadium and millions of TV viewers will enjoy it. Good thing is that it is a day/night match. Now, more than the players the supporters are anxious about the outcome of this match. Whoever wins will take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Indian players were in superb form in the second ODI and they are hoping that they can continue it on this Saturday. Well, the main problem is that their top order batsmen are not in consistent form. They need to be in good touch in front of their home crowd if India has to win the series. Indian wicket is traditionally considered to be good for batting and Indian batsmen are among the best in the world. So, I cannot understand their problem.

For Australia, the main concern is injury. Several of their key players are missing. Even before the series started they were without Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Nathan Bracken and Callum Ferguson. Brett Lee and James Hopes also suffered injury after coming in India and it is not clear whether they will be able to take part in the third match or not. Tim Paine also suffered injury in the last match and Graham Manou will come in place of him. So, in the third match, perhaps we will see some players in Australian eleven whom we do not know that much.

SMG wrote:

The captain said his team's lack of prowess in bowling at the death had been exacerbated in the past week by the hamstring injury to all-rounder James Hopes, forcing other bowlers to close out the innings in the opening two matches of the series.
…………………………………………………………
With Lee no certainty to regain fitness in time for tomorrow's day-night clash at Delhi, Ponting's only options for strengthening his pace attack at the death are Doug Bollinger, who has taken wickets in only one of his three one-day internationals, and Hopes's temporary replacement, Moises Henriques, who was mauled at the death by West Indian Kieron Pollard in the recent Twenty20 Champions League tournament.

India vs Australia 3rd ODI will take place at Feroz Shah Kotla in Indian capital city Delhi. 40,000 people can watch a match here and I have already predicted earlier that it will be a full house. Anil Kumble took his historic 10 wickets in a test innings in 1999. So, you may want to deduce that it is helpful for spin bowling. May be it is but the problem is that India does not any good spin bowler at this moment. Harbhajan Singh is no longer at his best form. So, it will be some kind of worry for the team.

Australian players are praying deeply that they can get back Brett Lee in the match. He is perhaps the fastest bowler today and he can cause massive damage to any team any day. Indian batsmen are weak when it comes to facing fast bowlers. So, if Brett Lee becomes fit tomorrow in the practice session then it will boost the confidence of Australian team a lot. The form of their leading batsmen is also not consistent. So, in this department, both the two teams have almost similar problem. Well, for Australia, the retirement of Glenn McGrath has remained such a big loss that the team still could not come out of it.

The Age wrote:

Shane Watson had been emerging as a death bowler of worth but all that good work has been undone in two matches here, while Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus were not precise enough to stop Dhoni.
"It has been (an issue) for a long time, ever since Pigeon (McGrath) moved on, bowling at the death," Ponting said.
"We have mixed and matched trying new guys over the past few years to try and find the guys that can do that well for us.

Dhoni played a great innings in the second ODI and the fans would want something from him again. Some players are calling for him to go to number 3 position and bat. However, he seems to be satisfied with number 5 position.

Indian players and BCCI recently suffered a lot of criticism that IPL is distracting the national team players. This series is a great opportunity to prove the critics wrong.

Although the day is a Saturday, many people will look for live score in Internet and I am giving names of some of the websites:

Arsenal Goes in the Fifth Round of Carling Cup 2010

The match just finished 2-3 minutes ago and we provided live updates in this blog. It was a very enjoyable match. In the end, Arsenal defeated Liverpool by 2-1. Well, I think that Liverpool could have won the match too if they could score from some of the opportunities they created. However, I was totally impressed by dazzling display from the young players of the Gunners. There was no Fabregas, Van Persy or even Arshavin. So, the 3 major players were not even in the reserve bench for any backup. This time, the young players showed that they are coming out of age. I was particularly impressed with two players.
One of them was Samir Nasri. He was injured for the last few weeks and it was a comeback match for him. He showed that the injury could not take away hit mental strength and playing ability. He was some kind of a play maker for the club tonight. If he can form a partnership with Fabregas then I would not be shocked to see Arsenal winning either Champions League or EPL title. Of course, it is too early to make this kind of prediction. The second players who caught my attention was left back Gibbs. He will be a great asset not only for Arsenal but also for England national team. He should get a place in English squad for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
For a good match report, go to BBC.
Just for the record, Merinda scored the first goal for Arsenal in the 19th minute. Then Liverpool equalized with a sublime finish from Insua (26th minute). The half time ended 1-1 and then in the 50th minute Bendtner produced a stunning goal.

Good Bye David Shepherd forever

We should remember one of the best umpires David Shepherd with grief and respect. This 68-year-old umpire is no more in this world. He has died after suffering from cancer for long time. His fans bid him farewell with tears and mourn. I feel sad when I think that I can not see him in the cricket ground. He devoted 22 years in cricket game. David Shepherd made his international debut in 1983 and took retirement in 2005. He last appeared in Test match between West Indies and Pakistan. After taking retirement from international cricket he became involved with his city’s club.

This legendary umpire had been appeared in 172 ODIs and 92 Tests. Umpiring may be a boring work to you but he showed that how it can be a funny and interesting job with his different body language and movement. I would like to give him special thanks and respect for his great devotion to cricket.

Can Stan Kroenke’s Money Match Arsene Wenger’s Style?

Stan Kroenke is the American billionaire and he is gradually increasing his share in Arsenal club of England. There are reports that he is very near to become the owner of 29.9% of the club’s share and then it would result in a mandatory takeover bid. Well, we all know that another billionaire who is interested about the club is Alisher Usmanov. Most shareholders in the cub do not like Alisher Usmanov and I guess that they are hoping for Stan to become the owner. I also like Stan because Alisher Usmanov wants to turn the Gunners into something like Chelsea by pumping a huge amount of money at a short time.
I hope that Stan Kroenke makes good relationship with Arsene Wenger from now and also supports Wenger in developing the young players. It is very important for the club because they still have to repay huge amount of money that had to borrow to build the Emirates Stadium.
Tonight, the Gunners are taking on Liverpool in Carling Cup. I wonder if Stan Kroenke will watch the match or not.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Carling Cup 2010: Preview and Live Score

If you want to get live score of Arsenal vs Liverpool League Cup match then visit the link- Arsenal and Liverpool Match Live Updates: 28 October 2009

Later tonight, arsenal is going to face Liverpool in a matter of Carling Cup 2010. It is perhaps bad luck that the two clubs are going to face each other so early in this competition this year. However, we all know that, both of them have millions of passionate supporters around the world and tonight, they will watch the match with all their emotion. The two clubs have mixed fortune in the season and that is why, it will be an interesting match to watch tonight. It is a fourth round match.

In the third round, Arsenal defeated by West Bromwich Albion by 2-0 and in that match, the young players played very well. In fact, 56,592 persons came to see the match and they enjoyed it a lot. A lot of credit goes to the coach Arsene Wenger. In the third round, Liverpool went to Leeds United and won the match by 1-0. So, Arsenal has two successive home fixtures while Liverpool has to play two successive matches away. Thus, Liverpool supporters may feel that they are a bit unlucky in the League Cup this time.

Match: Arsenal vs Liverpool Carling Cup 2010 fourth round

Date: 28 October 2009 Wednesday

Starting Time: 1945 GMT

The match will take place at the Emirates and it is the home stadium of Arsenal. So, it is a big advantage for the Gunners as they are always very strong in their home ground. Traditionally, Arsene Wenger puts a very young team in Carling cup. He has been following this tradition for the last few seasons and this way, the young players who can not get any opportunity to play in the English Premier League or at Europea get a very important opportunity to play against the top clubs in England. However, I think that tonight he will be forced to make an exception and he will have to put some senior players. Of course, by senior, I don’t mean aged players but by senior I mean experienced players. So, you can expect that there will be a mixture of youth and experience and let us see how they perform tonight.

On the other hand, Liverpool is perhaps going to put a strong side because their coach Rafael Benitez does not have the same philosophy like Wenger. However, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres may not play in the match. Albert Riera and Martin Kellyare injured and they can not be in the match either. Alberto Aquilani can play his first match for Liverpool and let us see how it does.

In the current season, Arsenal’s young players are doing very well. They are in good position at the moment in the league. In fact, from nine matches the Gunners have got 19 points and are at the third position. In the second position is Manchester United with 22 points from 10 matches. In fact, Arsenal has the best goal difference in the so far with a goal difference for 16. Only Chelsea has that record in the season so far.

On the other hand, Liverpool has a very tough season so far. They have lost a number of matches. But the good part is that in this Saturday, they played against Manchester United and dominated the match and won the match by 2-0. So, their supporters are also expecting big performance tonight from the players.

The league club is a place to show the talent that Arsene Wenger has in his young players. Carlos Vela, Sanchez Watt, Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbsare great players and they are perhaps the players for the future for their respective countries. On the other hand, Samir Nasri has been out of action for last few months and tonight he is expected to make a come back. In fact, it will be great to see him in an action. However, Arsenal will surely miss big players Van Persie, Arshavin and Fabregas. I hope that Arsene Wenger puts them in the reserve bench so that if needed they can come into the match.

League cup is something that Liverpool is always strong and in fact, in this competition, they are the strongest and best team. They have won the trophy seven times and it is more than any other club. Liverpool has also played in the final ten times and it is also a record.

Alberto Aquilani is a player that came to Liverpool with a lot of money but has not been able to do anything because of injury. So, it is his opportunity tonight to show his skill. Well, it is interesting to know that Wenger was interested about him to have him in London.

ESPN reported:

But Aquilani was also a player who interested Arsenal following some eye-catching performances in Serie A and Wenger only halted his pursuit when the player suffered from fitness problems last season.
"Yes I know him well," Wenger told the club's official website. "He played against us in the Champions League last year and came off the bench in Rome. He is a talented player but has been troubled a lot by injuries.
"We followed him for one or two years but he did not play a lot last year so he got a little bit out of sight for us and we lost our interest in him."

About the match BBC wrote:

Arsenal
• Arsenal, the 1987 and 1993 winners, have reached at least the last eight in each of the last six seasons.
• The Gunners have a 100% home record this season, having won all of their seven matches at the Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool
• Liverpool have not won away from home since their victory at Leeds in the previous round.
• They are also yet to score an away goal since that match at Elland Road.
So, in the end, it will be a big match. I hope that it becomes a competitive match and whoever wins it becomes an enjoyable game.

Arsene Wenger: How to Earn Money from Failures?

We all know that football clubs can earn money from successes. I mean when you become champion then you can earn money. You get sponsorship, big TV rights, ticket sales revenue etc. However, Arsene Wenger has shown the opposite. He has shown how to earn money from failures. Look at his record for the last 5 years. Under his coaching, his club achieved simply nothing. Even, this season, Arsenal supporters are not optimistic of winning anything. Still, Arsenal is perhaps the most profitable club in England today. They are making profits at a time when they are repaying huge amount of debt that occurred as a result of building the stadium Emirates. So, on the one hand, Arsenal is not winning anything for the last few seasons and on the other hand, they are replaying the loan. So, it is perhaps any kind of logic that they are one of the most profitable clubs in the world now.
Eric Altshule has written an excellent report in EPL Talk: Arsene Wenger’s Moneyball Strategy. Eric has talked about some of the strategies followed by Wenger. I am writing some of them:
1. Wenger never went for expensive players
2. He did not go for big leagues like EPL and La Liga. Instead he went for smaller leagues like Holland, Russia and Germany.
3. He picked players at a very early age.
4. Wenger spends largest amount of money among soccer managers for scouting network. It is extensive and covers every corner on earth.
5. After getting a new player he arranges very good training facility.
6. He can get super stars regularly and sell them almost every year.

It is clear that Wenger gives a lot of time for this matter. He is a passionate person about his job and he has the brain and motivation. The more I read and write about Arsene Wenger the bigger fan I am becoming of him. I don’t have a degree like him in Economics. I just wish that I could implement his ideas in blogging.

Gael Clichy Optimistic of Winning the League Championship This Time

At the beginning of the season, most soccer experts and even perhaps most Arsenal fans ruled the club out of any kind of hope of becoming champions in EPL in the current season. Well, the Gunners are playing very well and they are getting goals a lot. Last night, they suffered from bad luck against West Ham. Arsenal was leading by 2-0 and then in the last 15 minutes, West Ham came back strongly to secure a 2-2 draw. Gael Clichy thinks that some mistakes were made and the players would try their best to correct them.
"We were in control of the game, but it is not enough because we have to win games and stop losing points like this because it is a big disappointment,'' he said. "We have the quality, it is just small details that make the difference and we know that.
"On set-pieces you have to be focused and referee decisions are not in our hands. "The Premier League is really tough - even at 3-0 up you can concede a draw or lose the game.
"That shows you the level of the competition and the teams we are playing against. That is good for English football, but we should have won the game. We do not really care about what the other teams (around us) do. We have to play our game and try to get as many points as possible.''

I am happy to see that the players have now confidence and this time they think it is achievable. Until now, they have done almost everything right and they just need to sustain their consistency.
