Amitabh Bachchan’s Aladin failed to live up to its promise

Amitabh Bachchan’s latest movie Aladin is out in the theatres today and the movie is a great family entertainer. Adults may not find it very exciting but it is an overall enjoyable movie. The movie has some great CGI affects and it opens up with a great promise but fails to keep it till the end. Aladin tells the story of Aladin Aladin Chatterjee (Riteish Deshmukh), who lives in the city of Khwaish. He is an orphan boy and has always been bullied by Kasim and his gang. Aladin’s life changes after he had obtained a magic lamp from Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandez). Aladin meets Genius- the genie who lives in the magic lamp and would grant three wishes.

The story of Aladin has lots of similarities with that of Harry Potter and it is not so enjoyable to the end. The moment Amitabh Bachchan appears on the screen it takes a different turn. Sujoy Ghosh who directed and also wrote the screenplay failed to do full justice to the movie. It has two Bollywood heavyweights like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt and a good budget. From the trailer one can understand that it is going to be a fantasy/comedy movie but the movie lacked the power keep viewers hooked till the end.

Amitabh Bachchan did a very good job with his genie character but Ritesh Deshmukh’s performance was the best among all. Sanjay Dutt played the bad guy in this movie and he was ok with his role.
