Sri Lanka is ready to organize the IIFA 2010 Awards

Despite the South Indian film industry and some Tamil groups have called to boycott the event; the 11th International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) is ready to be organized in Sri Lanka at Colombo from June 3 to 5.

Activists are demanding to boycott the Colombo event for several weeks and there was confusion whether Sri Lanka will be withdrawn or not. However, organizers have cleared all speculation by citing that they will not change the decision of hosting event in Sri Lanka.

It is going to be the biggest event to be held in Sri Lanka. It is a grand opportunity for the Sri Lankan government to showcase their country as an ideal tourist and investment destination.

Though some big names will be missing out of the event, Sri Lankan government is going out of its way to make the event a big success.

Actors like Vivek Oberoi, Boman Irani, Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh have already arrived in Sri Lanka Tuesday. Today (Wednesday) some more Indian actors along with hundred of Indian tourists will attend in the post-war country.

The goal of IIFA is to make bridge between the neighboring countries and promote Sri Lanka in Bollywood on economic and political issues.

Amitabh Bachchan will not attend at the IIFA event despite being the brand ambassador as he has faced some criticism after reaching in India.

Now, it is the time to see if IIFA 2010 Awards gets success in Sri Lanka.

Namitha refused an offer to perform at the IIFA 2010

The well-known Tamil actress, Namitha, will not perform at the 11th IIFA Awards ceremony that will take place in Sri Lanka, Colombo. Sri Lankan government offered her to attend in this star studded event but she refused the offer.

In a statement, she has confirmed her refusal. She said that she had refused the invitation that was given from IIFA to attend the function in Colombo. She has refused the invitation to avoid the existing problem.

She is also thankful to the Tamil people for her glorious career in the film industry. She does not want to hurt the sentiment of Tamil people by taking part of this event because they are the reason for her living today.

May be, she has taken the decision of avoiding the gala event thinking about her career as South Indian film industry has decided not to take any star in their film who will attend in this function.

South Indian film industry has boycotted the event and they also ask Bollywood not to attend at the IIFA 2010. IIFA 2010 will start from June 3, 2010.

Besides acting in Tamil movie, Namitha, has also made her appearance in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English films. Though she is a common face in Tamil film, she made his acting debut in the Telugu film Sontham.

IIFA 2010 brings together Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi

Where most of the top Bollywood stars are reluctant to attend at the IIFA Awards 2010, there Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi have confirmed their presence in this upcoming event. Fans have been amazed to see these three superstars coming together at the film festival that will take place in Sri Lanka from June 3 to 5.

It has been revealed by Salman Khan that he would perform at the gala event. Not only that but also he will play the cricket match along with Indian celebrities and former cricketers against Sri Lanka.

Vivek Oberoi will be an influential member in this event. He will restart is project Hope to help rehabilitate of a village in Sri Lanka.

It is not sure whether Aishwarya Rai will attend at this event or not. However, his father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, told reporters that Aish would attend in it.

It is known to all fans that these three stars have no good relationship between them. They have not talked to each other ever because of the triangle love relationship that happened few years ago.

However, former beauty queen, Salman Khan is leading happy couple life with Abhishek Bachchan. Perhaps Salman Khan will soon break his bachelor image and will start steady life with Katrina Kaif. Vivek Oberoi has revived his career. Vivek is not lucky in love life but he is finding his suitable pair.

IIFA could bring together Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi under one umbrella.

Amitabh Bachchan and his family will not be attending at the IIFA 2010

Despite being the face of International Indian Film Academy Awards function, the 67-year-old megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, is not sure whether he will attend at the award ceremony or not. It is also reported that his son, Abhishek Bachchan, and daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, will be missing the event as they are busy to promote their upcoming movie, Raavan.

Except Amitabh Bachchan and his family, about 97 percent of the top stars have confirmed their presence at this event. It has been reported that Big B and his family will skip IIFA Awards. May be, Amitabh Bachchan’s presence at the IIFA will be million dollar question.

Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, told reporters that some small groups in Tamil Nadu are making pressure on some stars discouraging them not to attend the IIFA Awards 2010.

Mani Ratnam, the director of the film Raavan, and popular Tamil actor, Kamal Haasan, have decided to boycott the event. However, Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal will not participating in the forthcoming IIFA Awards.

Perhaps Hrithik Roshan is going to be the only big star who will lead Indian star cricket team against Sri Lanka in a charity match.

The three day IIFA event will kick off from June 3, 2010. It is going to be a special event that will include a business forum, fashion show and a charity cricket match involving Indian and Sri Lankan movie and cricket stars.

Joseph Sabhash, the Chairman of the IIFA Awards, is highly excited about the event. He said that the event will lead massive development in Sri Lanka, where Sri Lankan army fought against LTTE for 30 years. It will also help Sri Lanka to enhance its multi national relationships with India through the festival. It will also be effective for business men in both countries and enthusiast foreign investors to invest in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan beauty, Jacqueline Fernandez, will perform in this event in some roles.

Let’s see if IIFA gets success this year.

Shah Rukh Khan will not attend the IIFA 2010 Awards

Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, is not sure to join in the most popular award ceremony function, IIFA, which will take place in Sri Lanka between June 3 and June 5. What he excused for not coming for IIFA is the burden of too much work.

Shah Rukh Khan has written on his Twitter account, “I don't think I will be able to come for IIFA...too much work here, will miss Colombo.”

Shah Rukh Khan was named as the captain of Indian celebrities’ cricket team. It is reported that Hrithik Roshan will be captaining the star side because of SRK absence.

Indian celebrities’ cricket team will play against Sri Lankan cricketers with the aim of collecting money to rehabilitate the former Tamil child soldiers.

It is perhaps that Hrithik Roshan is the major star power of the event as star couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, will not be attending here. Even, the face of IIFA, Amitabh Bachchan, will make his brief appearance in Sri Lanka.

It is also reported that Salman Khan has been protested by the Tamil community group members for his proposed Sri Lanka visit for IIFA awards.

However, Lara Dutta won’t be performing this year but she will be one of the co-hosts of the awards.

It will be interesting to see if IIFA 2010 Awards can attract the audience without the big names of Bollywood.

IIFA 2010 Awards will help to make bridge between India and Sri Lanka

One of the most popular award ceremonies, IIFA, which will start from June 3-5, has been criticized for being hosted at the Sri Lankan captain, Colombo.

This prestigious and start studded awards ceremony has been boycotted by most of the Tamil citizens from different parts of the country as it is alleged that many Tamil citizens was killed during the fight between Tamil Tigers and . It is also reported that Bollywood stars were requested to boycott the event to show their respect to the dead civilians. It is seen that IIFA will make the relation between the two countries from sweet to sour.

However, it is believed that IIFA will help Sri Lanka to make stronger ties and improve better relations with India.

With the vision of building bridge across businesses, communities, nations and cinema, creating ‘One people, One world’, IIFA has started its journey in Sri Lanka. This event has come as a 'big opportunity' to promote Sri Lanka in Bollywood.

Sri Lankan Captain, Kumar Sangakkara, is a big fan of Bollywood movies and like all the Khans. He believes that IIFA would help Sri Lanka to go beyond all the barriers, including social and political. It would help to make bridge between the two countries. The IIFA 2010 Awards will be enjoyed by the Sri Lankan people.

To rehabilitate former Tamil Tigers child soldiers, a charity match will be played between Sri Lankan selectors and Indian celebrities. Money that would collect through this humanity project will be used to re-establish, re-educated and rehabilitated the child soldiers.

Kumar Sangakkara appreciated it and said, “It will be lot of fun and lot of entertainment. It is also a very touching humanitarian cause as a village for 100 families will be built. It is a great initiative”.

Bollywood has international appeal around the world. In Sri Lanka, it has huge popularity. It is true that IIFA has become a great source of entertainment for Sri Lankan people. If super stars boycott this event then it will make negative impact about Sri Lanka around the world.
