Injury has become a big problem for the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger who needs to deal with a number of injury casualties ahead of the away fixture. Arsenal is missing a number of key players for the game and the situation is very tough for Wenger as he is left with short of options. Reserve goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is out of action for 2 months following his knee surgery, while defenseman Johan Djourou is sidelined for at least a month. Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny are left to back up for regular keeper Manuel Almunia.

Tomas Rosicky is at least 2 weeks away from his much-awaited return to Premier league after getting over his hamstring injury, while young forward Theo Walcott is also missing Saturday’s trip due to his back injury. Like Rosicky, Arsenal would miss another midfielder Samir Nasri for the game as the French international is recovering his broken leg and it is less likely that Nasri would return before going through a rehabilitation period of 3 months. However, there is good news in the Arsenal camp too.

Arsenal's new signing Thomas Vermaelen is available after playing 45 minutes for Belgium on Wednesday and is set to partner William Gallas in defence.

The Gunners will be without Theo Walcott (back) despite the winger being on the bench for England in midweek.

The condition in Everton camp may not be as severe as it is in Arsenal, but the Toffees are still doubtful about Jo who sustained a minor injury in his ankle during a recent friendly match against Blackpool. However, the most important thing for Everton is that they could so far keep their hold on star defender Joleon Lescott. Everton has released Nuno Valente and Andy Van der Meyde this season, and Segundo Castillo completed his loan stint at the Merseyside club. American Anton Peterlin is the only signing of Everton so far in the current summer transfer window. Brazilian forward Jo has arrived Goodison Park in a loan deal from Manchester City.

Arsenal cashed in £39m through selling Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure, two of their key players over the last few seasons, to Manchester City. However, Arsene Wenger decided to stick to his own belief and strategy as he has not spent much so far in the ongoing transfer window. In fact, Arsenal spent only £8.45m to sign Belgian centre back Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax. The 23-year-old is all set to make his Arsenal debut against Everton tomorrow.

The biggest success of Arsenal in the Summer transfer window is perhaps its hold on manager Arsene Wenger who was offered a lucrative deal by Real Madrid. Wenger’s rejection of Real offer indicates the desire of the French manager to see success at the North London club. Wenger said that agreeing a deal with Real Madrid would have been a betrayal to my belief.

"I want to go to the end of my job here. I built this team, I want to deliver with this team and I feel that if I left I would in some way have betrayed my beliefs," Wenger told the Daily Mail.

"It is nothing to do with what Real Madrid have done. It was about Arsenal.

"I knew what Madrid were about to do, but I have a project here that I started four years ago and I wanted to reach the end of.

So, you can see that Arsenal fans really have some reason to feel proud of their manager. The most important thing is that the manager is full of confidence that his young players would bring success at the club. There is no doubt, the manger has set up a long-term vision and he has no plan to leave the club before finishing his job.

Everton manager David Moyes has been managing the Toffees since 2002, but has not brought many successes at the club yet. 2009 FA final appearance has been Everton’s biggest success in English football since Moyes took over as Everton manager. So, I guess, the Scottish manager also has an unfinished job at Everton and he would not leave any stone unturned to fulfill his desire.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Eyes on Stephen Ireland of Manchester City

Since last Summer, Arsenal has been looking for a quality midfielder following the departures of a number of key holding midfielders. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now more desperate to land a midfielder in the January transfer window, knowing the fact that he would miss the service of star midfielder, Captain Cesc Fabregas as the Spanish international has been sidelined with injury and would remain so for a number of months to come.

So, Arsene Wenger’s temptation of signing a quality midfielder is pretty much understandable at this moment. After Everton made it clear that their Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta was not for sale in January, Wenger has reportedly turned his sight on Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland who has been in excellent form so far this season, scoring 9 goals and assisting 7 overall. No doubt, 22-year-old Stephen Ireland could be an effective signing for Arsenal, but I do not find any reason for which newly rich Manchester City would like to let one of its key performers leave the club in January when they have enough money to go for big-money deals.

For the first time, Ecuadorian midfielder Segundo Castillo satisfied Everton Coach David Moyes when he was handed only his forth appearance in Everton outfit against Manchester United last week. Castillo’s excellent job at the midfield helped his club to pull off a 1-0 win on the road. Facing a number of injury problems, David Moyes had no other option available but to include him in the starting line up and the 26-year-old player earned the belief of the club coach. Now, ahead of a big encounter with Chelsea this Monday, David Moyes is most likely to name the same squad and a place in the starting line up is almost ensured for Segundo Castillo. Segundo Castillo joined Everton on loan from Red Star Belgrade in the Summer.

Chelsea is going to travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday to face Everton in the second leg match of Carling Cup 2007-2008 semi final. With a 2-1 victory in the first leg at home, Chelsea now has an edge over their opponent Everton ahead of the upcoming second leg match. The victory of Chelsea has left Everton with the only option to overturn the 2-1 deficit in the match in order to play the final.

Chelsea has not been in their great form throughout the season. The side suffered from injury woes as most of their star players got through some tough time with injuries. At this moment, eight of their first team players are out of first team contention either for being injured or on international duty with national teams.

John Terry, Frank Lampard, Andriy Shevchenko are all injured. Though Terry has just recovered from his foot injury, he is yet to get his match fitness back. Chelsea has noting to complain about manager Avram Grant, who took over from José Mourinho during the season. Grant is also happy with the performance of his side, despite those injury problems.

They are now in third place of the league point table with 50 points to their credit, just four behind top two clubs- Manchester United and Arsenal. Now, on the other hand, Everton is also in their prime form so far this season occupying the fourth place in the standing with 42 points.

It is now a realistic goal for the Blues to qualify for the UEFA Champions league qualifying round next season. Now, ahead of the semi final match against Chelsea, Everton must have to overturn their 2-1 first leg deficit in the home match in order to be at the Wembley stadium in the final.
