Acer to Increase Distribution Channel in UK

World’s third largest computer maker, Acer, is now looking to strengthen its position in the UK market this year. The Taiwan-based computer giant has so far failed to show any prominence in the UK market, but is now confident to make its presence felt in the country.

With this aim in mind, Acer is now trying to engage more operators and increase its retail channels in the UK. The company has plans to introduce ten smartphones and three tablet PCs this year. Acer is going to launch Iconia Tab W500 which would be the company’s first ever bet on the tablet PC market. Now, UK is understood to be one of the markets the company is looking to exploit.

Acer’s senior corporate VP, Aymar de Lencquesaing, has recently said, “Our goal in 2011 in the UK market is to become clearly referenced in one or more operators and also to be present in the retail channels.”

Acer will also come up with its first Windows 7 Phone-based device in Autumn this year. Though it will continue to release Android-based devices, De Lencquesaing also revealed that the company would increase its Windows Phone 7-based devices in 2012.

Acer coming up with Honeycomb run Tablet in Taiwan Soon

Taiwan is not a big market for tablet devices but both Asus and Acer are from Taiwan. So, both of the two companies want to have good position in the local market. Acer is going to launch a Honeycomb run tablet in the next one month in Taiwan. According to a report of Digitimes, the market for tablet PC is going to become 400,000 units in 2011.
These are tough days for Acer as the company is losing ground in the PC market because of the matter that Apple’s iPad is taking away netbook sales and Acer is getting badly hurt. Just yesterday, iSuppli in a report stated that Dell replaced Acer as the number two PC maker thanks to the fact that iPad was eating away the netbook and notebook business.
So, Acer really needs to focus on the tablet industry and do the same thing against Apple. Acer has strong presence in some Asian countries and it should use this matter to promote its own tablet.

Acer is making dual-display laptop for the first time

One of the top three worldwide suppliers of personal computers, Acer, is now planning to release a new laptop that will come with dual-display, which is supposedly will not be able to bring it out before the fall of 2011.

Dual-display laptop ideas have already been used in the past as many companies unveiled their products using this technology, but Acer for the first time will release its own laptop using the same technology. The main focus of Acer is on mobile PCs.

TechReviewSource has leaked the specification of this dual-display laptop that makes it the headlines not because of releasing any new netbook.

The reports said that Acer is now making a dual-display notebook. It means that there will be no physical keyboard. This dual-display laptop will come up with two displays measuring 15 inches. One touchscreen will be used as the display itself while the other one will be used for multipurpose such as keyboard or trackpad.

It will feature an Intel Core i5 with a clock speed of 2.67 GHz. The dual-display laptop will come with Windows 7 Home Premium loaded onto its sample and it seems that it will allow the multitouch display to “swap” screens.

It is expected to hit the market about a year in the future as it is in its beginning stage.

Like one of the Sandy Bridge Series, it has a strong possibility that it will make a revolutionary change as a next-generation CUP.

Let us see if other companies will focus on dual-display machines to compete with Acer or physical keyboards will have to fight hard against the touch-based keyboard to remain existence.
