This is a match that has no significance for neither Spain nor Greece no matter what happens. Greece is the reigning champion of Euro. However, they are out of Euro 2008 already and tomorrow whatever happens, they will have to go home. On the other hand, Spain is in impressive form in Euro 2008. So, Spain vs Greece match is just a mere formality. I wonder if Spain would put their best 11 or I think that they might rest some of their key players in tomorrow’s match. On the other hand, this match is the final chance for Greece to earn some respect from the fans in home and abroad.

Soccerway wrote:

Greece must have expected more from their title-defending campaign but Otto Rehhagel's men never stood a chance against Sweden and Russia.

Midfielder Angelos Basinas, also part of the 2004 cup-winning squad, is preparing for a genuine battle with Spain:

"Our aim is to perform well and try to get three points. That will make us feel good about ourselves and please the fans who came all the way to Austria to support us."

David Silva, Carles Puyol and Santi Cazorla of Spain are not fit and most probably they will not be featured in first eleven. Well, it will surely make Spanish team weak but Spanish coach is perhaps happy that tomorrow’s match does not mean anything for the team’s prospect of moving to the quarterfinals. Greece coach Otto Rehhagel will want just one thing from his players: total commitment. Otto Rehhagel is lucky to retain his job even after poor performance in Euro 2008. This may come to you as a shock as Greece lost the first match to Sweden and then to Russia.

BBC wrote:

The German coach led Greece to an improbable victory at Euro 2004 and is under contract for another two years.

"We will continue together until 2010," said Greek Football Federation president Vassilis Gagatsis.

"He's the architect of Greece's biggest sporting success. It's very easy to change coach but support and lasting confidence forged this team."

Well, to be fair, Greek players did not play that bad and they were more unlucky than outclassed in both the matches. ON the other hand, Spain is in superb form in Euro 2008. Spain has won both the matches and tomorrow, even if they lose the match against Greece they are assured of the top spot in Group D. Spain has scored 6 goals and just conceded 2 goals in the two matches. On the other hand, Greece has conceded 3 goals and they are yet to score any goal. This is something that should make the Greek coach worried in the match tomorrow. Spain looks a very strong team in this tournament. They look just as strong as Holland and Portugal. The way Spain is playing at this moment, I would not get shocked if they reach the final of this tournament.
