If you are asked to make a list of the most significant events of cricket world at this moment, it is well predicted that many of you would chose Indian Premier League (IPL). Yes, the multi-million dollar tournament is going to take place in different cities across India from 18 April. Besides the presence of some of the biggest stars of cricket world of our time, this much-waited IPL Twenty20 competition also features million dollars for prize money. In fact, this is said to be the richest tournament ever organized in the history of cricket. Even a world cup tournament could not put so many dollars up for grab.

So, naturally the tournament received huge media attention and fans are also excited to see the star players from different counties playing together. There are eight teams in Indian premier league and the inaugural Twenty20 tournament stars with the match Bangalore Royal Challengers and Kolkata Knight Riders at the
M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The final match is due to take place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 1 June 2008.

Indian Premier League will be telecast live in different television channels in different parts of the world. For example, Sony SET Max will show the matches live in India, Ten Network in Australia, cricket fans of UK and Ireland would be able to enjoy the IPL matches live on Setanta Sports, Willow TV will show the matches in North America, while in Canada the broadcast right is owned by ATN and the matches will be shown on ATN operated CBN television channel in Canada.

In the Middle East, Arab Digital Distribution has got the exclusive telecast right of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in different countries of this region. Arab Digital Distribution (ADD) has made a 10 year deal with Indian Premier League on this regard. ADD has a number of channels in its varied channel line up. Indian premier league (IPL) matches will be shown live on ADD’s ART Prime Sport television channels. The matches will be telecast live in different Middle East and some African counties. The counties are- United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan and Libya.

In this 44-day tournament, there will be 59 matches including the final of 1 June. IPL Twenty20 tournament is going to be the first of the this kind of tournament approved by ICC. Cricket’s mega stars are participating in IPL. There are many Asian people residing in the aforementioned countries and it is expected that they will surely enjoy the Indian premier league (IPL) 2008 matches.
