Manchester United is going to meet Arsenal in the fifth round match of FA Cup 2007-2008. No doubt, this is the most highlighted match of this round in FA Cup. The mouth watering match will be held on 16 February 2008 at the Manchester United home ground, Old Trafford. The match is now the center of all attention. The top two clubs of premier league will put on their every effort to win the match and ensure their quarter final place in FA Cup this season.

Match: Manchester United vs Arsenal, FA Cup 2007-2008 Fifth Round

Venue: Old Trafford

Date: 16 February 2008, Saturday

Time: 17:15 GMT

Manchester United stands second in the premier league with five points behind the leader Arsenal. United has recently suffered a shocking defeat to cross town rivals Manchester City last weekend, while Arsenal picked up three points defeating Blackburn Rovers at home on Monday. With this victory, Arsenal goes five points clear at the top of premier league.

It is now certain that Manchester United is under huge pressure. In their last two league matches they picked up only one point. However, Manchester United has been in imperious form including 6-0 victory over Newcastle United in the recent past except the last two matches: a hard-fought draw against Portsmouth and the defeat to Manchester City.

Manchester United Needs Quick Recover after Two Lousy Performances

Manchester United must get back their form before Arsenal travels to Old Trafford on 16. Their inform striker Cristiano Ronaldo could not show his impressive form in the last two matches, while Rooney was also less effective. Carlos Tevez brought a goal against Portsmouth to pick up a point from that match. In the midfield, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are less effective. So, the youngsters like Andersen and Nani are expected to lead Manchester United, despite the fact that they are still inexperienced.

Sportingo reported:

One thing’s for sure, the champions need to recover quickly from this blip or talk of winning the treble will be reduced to simply finishing above Chelsea in the Premier League. Arsenal visit Old Trafford on Saturday in the FA Cup and this match now takes on an extra significance considering United have failed to win either of the past two matches. In addition to beating their main rivals and staying in the competition, Sir Alex Ferguson will be anxious for his team to play themselves into some kind of form ahead of their midweek trip to Lyon in the Champions League.

Arsenal has been in impressive form this season. Arsenal is currently going without any mega star, but Arsene Wengeer is leading the side toward another league title this season. They have dominated the league throughout the season, with losing only once so far this season in premier league. Though Arsenal suffered a humiliating defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup, they have continued their imperious form in the premier league. Since their defeat to Tottenham, Arsenal won all the matches including their 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the fourth round of FA Cup.

Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue Back from African Nations Cup

Arsenal was thought to face huge problem when their African players left the club to join up their national side to participate in the African Nations Cup 2008. Now, after the end of the tournament the African players are coming back. Ivorian Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue joined the club recently while others are expected to be back before Arsenal meets Manchester United.

Setantasports reported:

The Ivorian pair are in contention for the weekend though, with Wenger confirming: “Kolo and Eboue came back today (Monday) so we hope to see them tomorrow to see if they’re not injured.”

Arsenal Facing Injury Blows; Tomas Rosicky May be Back in Action

Arsenal is facing a number of injury problems. They will miss some of their in form players for the FA Cup showdown with Manchester United. Goal Keeper Almunia is yet to recover from his sickness. Abou Diaby, Robin van Persie, Denilson and Johan Djourou will miss the match. However, the only good news for the Arsenal fans is that midfielder Tomas Rosicky is expected to be back in action with the match against Manchester United.

Sky Sports reported:

With Manuel Almunia, Abou Diaby, Robin van Persie, Denilson and Johan Djourou all set to miss the Old Trafford encounter, the Gunners boss has welcomed the return of the defensive duo along with that of midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

"Rosicky, he looks better. Van Persie looks better, but he is still a few weeks away. But Rosicky maybe has a little chance for Saturday."

Well, you can expect a mind blowing match between the two giants. Even if you take Manchester United’s patchy form into account, you can be optimistic that there will be a competitive match at Old Trafford. Manchester United must try their best to win the match and get into the next round, which will be a major boost for them in their pursuit to defend the premier league title. The same thing goes for Arsenal as well. Though they are in strong position in the league, a victory over Manchester United will steer Arsenal’s goal to win the premier league title this season.
