Barcelona vs Racing Santander: Live Score and Live Updates

http://techblogbiz.blogspot.com/2008/01/barcelona-vs-racing-santander-live.html

Barcelona is going to host mid-table Real Murcia on their next league match. Barcelona currently seven points behind the league leader Real Madrid in the point table with 37 points. So, a win against Murcia will lessen the gap up to three points, though not permanently ahead of Real Madrid’s Sunday clash against Levante. On the other hand, Real Murcia occupies the ninth place in the league standing with 22 points to their credit. They are not in the title race, but have the goal to finish the season with higher positions in the league point table.

Barcelona has been held to a 1-1 draw against Sevilla on Wednesday. However, they have won their first league match of this year against Real Malorca. After their home defeat to Real Madrid before Christmas, Barcelona has no way to afford any slip up, if they want to retain the league title. Still, they are seven points behind their arch rival in the championship race and they have to wait for Real Madrid losing points in order to decrease the gap. The match will be held at the Barcelona home ground, Camp Nou on Saturday.

Barcelona has both good and bad news ahead of the league encounter with Murcia. Let us start with the bad one. Brazilian defender Edmílson has been ruled out of the next match after picking up an injury in 1-1 stalemate against Sevilla on Wednesday. He had just come back to action after spending six months in the sideline with a knee injury and now he has to be sidelined for two more weeks. Moreover, Touré Yaya has left the team to join up the national side of Ivory Coast, heading off to take part in African Nations Cup 2008. So, there is a void created in the defensive midfield position of Barcelona.

FC Barcelona web reported:

Edmílson only returned to the Barcelona team just over a week ago against Alcoyano on the 2nd January after he spent 6 months out with a serious knee injury.
This means Frank Rijkaard will be limited to just one defensive midfielder in the shape of Rafa Márquez after Yaya Touré left for Ghana to take part in the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast and Marc Crosas is expected to join Olympique Lyon on loan for the rest of the season.

In addition, Barcelona will miss their two of their key players Ronaldinho and Messi for the league tie with Real Murcia. However, the good news is that Barcelona will get their Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto'o for the last match before he sets out to join up Ghana-bound Cameroon side. Moreover, French striker Thierry Henry has indicated to come back in form scoring the only goal for Barcelona in their 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Spanish King's Cup fifth-round match.

Goal.com reported:

Ronaldinho and Leo Messi may not be available, but Samuel Eto'o will be in his final game before he jets off to join up with the Cameroon squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations and he will want to go out on a high
Thierry Henry may not have lived up to expectations just yet, but he will still pose Murcia's defence more problems than they will face from the many other teams this season.

Real Murcia has been in form in terms of their recent form. They have defeated Osasuna 3-0 in their last league match. They suffered only one defeat in the last five league matches. Barcelona can not take them lightly, as they held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at home two months ago. Moreover, this is the first home game for Barcelona since their defeat to Real Madrid at home. So, they must carry out some pressure in front of their home supporters.

Goal.com reported:

Despite reaching the dizzy heights of eighth earlier in the campaign, the team has now settled into mid-table and go into this encounter having defeated Osasuna last weekend.
Those three points saw Murcia move up to ninth in the table and they are now just four points away from Sevilla, who lie just one place above them in the table.

Barcelona will definitely have better chance against Murcia. Not only they have home advantage, they are clearly strong side compared to their opposition Real Murcia. However, Murcia may play inspirational football thinking off the fact that they are playing a title contender. Actually, a draw will be a logical goal for Murcia and if they succeed, it will be a big blow for Barcelona at this crucial stage of the league.

It is a bit hard to predict who are going to win the match as it is a football match, where everything is uncertain. However, as I said earlier, Barcelona has no chance to lost any more points, while Murcia can play well in order to take at least a point from the match, which will be valued more than just a mere point. So, I hope to see an exciting match at the Camp Nou on Saturday.

La Liga 2007-2008: Villarreal vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid is going to face Villarreal on 2^nd September 2007 in their second match of La Liga 2007-2008 season. The match will be held in Estadio El Madrigal, the home stadium of Villarreal. For both Real Madrid and Villarreal, the opening matches of the season were excellent. Real Madrid defeated their cross town rival Atletico Madrid by 2-1. On the other hand, Villarreal got a super win over Valencia. The 3-0 victory is enough to prove that how much hungry they are now in 2007-2008 season. On the other hand, Real Madrid is the defending champion and they were favorite in the first match against Atletico Madrid. However, they had some bad experiences before the match. Real Madrid had lost both leg matches to Sevilla in Spanish Super Cup 2007. So, there was fear among the Real Madrid fans if they could be able to continue their last season success in the new season as well.

Villarreal finished fifth in 2006-2007 La Liga season behind Valencia. So, it was expected Villarreal vs Valencia match will have some sheer excitement. However, Villarreal could not give any chance to Valencia to fight back in the match. On the other hand, Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid by 2-1. Real Madrid captain Raul and newly recruited Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder scored for their team.

Villarreal vs Real Madrid match is also expected to show a huge competitiveness as both the teams have now sheer confidence because of their successful start. In terms of strength, Real Madrid, for sure, is ahead of Villarreal. Real Madrid is considered as one of the best and richest European clubs in the world and they always try to include some current best players in the team. Just before the league opener on 25-26 August 2007, Real Madrid included Dutch footballer Arjen Robben from Chelsea. Arjen Robben is one of the best midfielders of the world at this moment.

Moreover, Rea Madrid has included some more promising and star footballers including Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze from Manchester United, Argentine star Javier Saviola from Barcelona etc. for the 2007-2008 season. Real Madrid has some other stars who played in the last season. The most notable is forward Ruud van Nistelrooy who played a leading role in Real Madrid’s last season success in La Liga. Captain Raul, Brazilian Robinho are star forward. In defense, Real Madrid has lost their long time star Roberto Carlos this season but they have some promising defenders as well. Italy’s world cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro is also one of the best defenders at this moment and now he is the main strength of Real defense. Spanish Míchel Salgado, Portuguese Pepe, Argentine Gabriel Heinze etc. are big names in Real Madrid defense. In the midfield, Real Madrid has also some stars including Arjen Robben, Júlio Baptista, Fernando Gago etc.

On other hand, Villarreal does not have so many star footballers in the team. Their main strength is their team work in the field. French midfielder Robert Pirès and Argentine midfielder Riquelme are their biggest stars. To tell the truth, sometimes it becomes useless to know that how many stars you have in your team. Rather, team work and understanding become important to some extent. For Real Madrid it is important to play like a team not individually. In the past, it was seen several times that with a star seeded line up, Real Madrid could not impress at all and sometimes they suffered some shocking defeats to underdog teams.

Real Madrid has got back their La Liga title last season after some cup less seasons. It is really shocking to see a star seeded team struggling against the minor teams. However, Real Madrid players played very well in the last season and could bring the La Liga title back in Santiago Bernabéu.

Villarreal is a balanced side and now their confidence level is high so it is possible for them to throw a strong challenge to Real Madrid. They have the potential to win against Real Madrid if they can continue team work. On the other hand, Real Madrid has some best players. So, if their players are in good form then it becomes very hard to stop them.

I do not want to make any prediction over the result of Villarreal vs Real Madrid match. However, I hope to see an exciting and competitive match. The fans of the two teams are now excited over the match and they are eagerly waiting for the match. Let us see who are going to win the match; Real Madrid or Villarreal.

Racing vs Barcelona Preview: La Liga 2007-2008

Spanish La Liga 2007-2008 season is now a few days away. From 26 August the new season of La Liga will be started. In the first day 10 matches will be held. Barcelona will play their first match against Racing. Barcelona lost their La Liga title to Real Madrid in the last season. However, Barcelona has recruited a few more star players in the team to get back their La Liga title. Spanish giants now seem very strong for their La Liga opponents. On the other hand, Racing is not so high profile team but their last season performance in La Liga was excellent as they finished 10^th in the league table.

Barcelona vs Racing match can not be considered as a big match in terms of the comparative strength of these two teams. Barcelona is one of the most successful clubs in Spanish league. Barcelona has already won La Liga title for second highest 18 times. Moreover, they won UEFA Champions league twice in the club’s history. In contrast, Racing does not have any such record or success in Spanish La Liga or Champions League.

I know that statistics can not provide any idea regarding the team’s strength. However, if you look at the players of Barcelona and Racing, you will easily understand that Barcelona is far more ahead of Racing. First, let’s begin with Barcelona. In striking position they have some best footballers of present time. Brazilian forward, Ronaldinho is the two times winner of the Fifa World Player of the Year award. His speed, dribbling is something special in his skill. Then Argentina forward Lionel Messi is one of the best strikers at this moment in the world and he is thought to be the future Maradona. Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o is another star footballer of Barcelona. You can easily understand that these three are enough to destroy any defense of the world. However, for the forthcoming season Barcelona signed another star striker Thierry Henry. This French has joined Barcelona from his long time club Arsenal.

In the mid field, they have Xavi Hernández who plays for Spanish national team. Portuguese Deco is another skilled performer in the midfield. Barcelona has recently recruited midfielder Yaya Touré from Monaco. In defense, they have lots of star footballers including Mexican defender Rafael Márquez, captain Carles Puyol, Brazilian Edmílson, two French Lilian Thuram and Éric Abidal. Ahead of the La Liga 2007-2008 season, Barcelona included Gabriel Milito who plays in the national team of Argentina.

However, Racing has not so many star footballers in their club. Rather their highest scorer of last season Nikola Žigić has left the club to join Valencia. Former Real Madrid striker Pedro Munitis is most probably their best striker. Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay is a promising defender of Racing. Ezequiel Garay has recently played his first international match in Copa America 2007. Racing recruited Argentine defender Aldo Duscher for the upcoming season.

Football is a game of 90 minutes where you have to perform in the field throughout 90 minutes. No matter, how many star footballers you have in your team or how many trophies you won in the past. So, by no means you can say that Barcelona will destroy the defense of Racing. Yes, I know that Barcelona is favorite in match against Racing but to tell the truth, Racing seems to be a balanced team. Last season, they finished the season at 10^th position in the table. It is really good performance for a team who does not have any star or high profile footballer.

I am not going to predict anything about the result of the match. What I want to say is that Barcelona will definitely try to have a crushing victory against Racing. On the other hand, Racing players must be inspired by their last season performance and they will try to give 100 percent to repeat the performance of last season. If the things happen in this way then, for sure, Barcelona is going to face strong challenge in their first match of Spanish La Liga 2007-2008 season.

La Liga 2007-2008: Arjen Robben in Real Madrid

You already know that star winger Arjen Robben has recently joined Spanish club Real Madrid from English club Chelsea. Arjen Robben is one of the best left wingers at this moment in the world. Ahead of the La Liga 2007-2008, his inclusion is expected to give a huge boost to Real Madrid. With Real Madrid Robben signed a five year contract. Robben spent three seasons in Chelsea. Real has spent 36-million euro for him which is the second highest transfer of the season and this is the fourth highest expensive signing in the history of Real Madrid.

Now, this Dutch winger wants to pay back to the club with his impressive performance. He expressed his view that in England he has fallen in injuries for a number of times that lessen his confidence level but getting a call from Real Madrid he gets back his confidence and he is now determined to do well with Real Madrid.

Guardian reported:
Still beaming from the reception he was given, the 23-year-old said he was delighted that one of the close season's longest transfer sagas had come to an end.
"For me it was a big relief when the final word came yesterday," he said. "It was a difficult time because I was waiting for it since the first day I was back training with Chelsea."
"I won every prize I could win in England, but I had too many injuries there so didn't make the impact I wanted to. I see this as a new start and a new chance and I hope I can stay out of that terrible (treatment) room.
"After a while I felt I wasn't getting the confidence I needed and I started changing my mind (about staying) and when a massive big club like Real Madrid comes for you it gives you a lot of confidence."

In Real Madrid, Arjen Robben will get his countryman Ruud van Nistelrooy as his striking partner. So, their understanding will be better between each other as both of them played in Holland national team. Now, let us see to what extent these two Dutch can help Real Madrid to defend their La Liga title in 2007-2008 season.

La Liga 2007-2008: Arjen Robben and Gabriel Heinze Join Real Madrid

Real Madrid fans can now feel relax. Performance of Real Madrid in the last few matches was not satisfactory. Real Madrid is the present champion of La Liga but their poor performance in recent matches hurt their fans and they were not in a relaxed mood ahead of the La Liga 2007-2008 season. However, now Real Madrid fans and officials may feel better because Real Madrid has completed two speculated transfers of Dutch striker Arjen Robben and Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze.

Having suffered a crushing defeat to Sevilla in the second leg of Spanish Super Cup 2007, Real Madrid club officials held a meeting immediately and there they took the decision of recruiting some new faces in Real Madrid. Arjen Robben is a brilliant striker and he has joined Real Madrid from Chelsea where Arjen Robben played 67 matches in three seasons. Real Coach Bernd Schuster earlier called for a striker who will support striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. The interesting thing is that both Robben and Nistelrooy are from Holland and both of them play in Holland national team. Robben is one of the best left wingers at this moment in the world and Real Madrid really needed a good left winger to support Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Arjen Robben came to a contract of five years with Real Madrid for which Real Madrid has to spend €36 million. This is perhaps the second highest transfer fee in the season. On the other hand, for Gabriel Heinze, Real Madrid has reportedly spent €12 million with a four year contract. Gabriel Heinze plays in left back or center back position. Heinze spent three seasons in Manchester United with whom he won last season Premiership title.

International herald Tribune reported:

The 23-year-old, whose name was chanted by some supporters as he made his appearance, read out a brief speech in Spanish.

"I have studied Spanish a little ... today, I have entered a dream world. I hope together we can win many things," Robben said.

Robben said later it was "a big relief when word came he could join Madrid."

"There were many moments when I felt I was going to Madrid the next day and then it didn't happen," he added.

The winger said he began to consider a move to Madrid when he "started not to get the confidence" he needed at Chelsea.

"You then have to go where you feel you'll be more happy," Robben said.

Real Present Ramon Calderon gave a pre-election promise that he would include Arjen Robben if he could be the president. Both Arjen Robben and Gabriel Heinze have sheer talent and skill. Now, their first assignment would be against Real Madrid’s first match of La Liga 2007-2008 season against arch rival Atletico Madrid. So, let us see how they how much they can serve for Real Madrid.

Spanish La Liga 2007-2008 Schedule/Fixture

Spanish La Liga 2007-2008 season is just a few days away. This alluring football league will start from 26 August 2007. All of the 20 participating teams are now taking their last minute preparation. Club officials are busy with player transfer and they are trying to form a balanced team. Including reigning champion Real Madrid other major teams like Barcelona are trying to recruit new players in order to make a strong line up. Barcelona lost their title to Real Madrid last season. So, this time they will definitely try their best to win the title again. That is why, they have already included striker Thierry Daniel Henry though they have some star footballers like Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o in forward position. So, many think that Real Madrid will face a strong challenge from Barcelona to defend their title.

Twenty teams will play against each other twice; once in home another in away. So, every team will play 38 matches in the tournament. The team with highest number of points will be winner. La Liga 2007-2008 will be ended on 18 May 2008. I am giving the full schedule of La Liga 2007-2008 below:
