Jose Mourinho: Moving to Manchester United or Chelsea?

It is a question that provokes curiosity among the football fans from around the world. Over the years, Jose Mourinho has earned lots of praise for his ability to produce quick success.

First Mourinho showed his talent in native Portugal; then proved his quality at a bigger stage in England with Chelsea, and then he conquered Italy with Inter Milan. Not many coaches, at the age of 48, could win as many titles as Mourinho did so far.

However, Mourinho’s time at Real Madrid is not going very well as his side is 5 points behind leader Barcelona in La Liga. Moreover, their performance in Europe is not that much satisfactory.

Now, there are rumors in the media he could leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and he has also revealed his wish to return to English Premier League, but this time as Manchester United manager.

However, his former club Chelsea is now reportedly offering him £10 million yearly salary. Now, let us see where Mourinho is going.

Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard in Mourinho’s Real Madrid Plan

Jose Mourinho, the most likely new coach of Real Madrid, has revealed his interest for two England midfielders: Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Both the players in their positions are considered among the best in the world.

It is expected that Real Madrid would officially announce Mourinho’s move to the club from Inter Milan very soon. In fact, the Spanish giants recently sacked coach Manuel Pellegrini.

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has always been an admirer of the two creative midfielders. During his stint at Chelsea, he tried to bring in Gerrard at the West London club.

Real Madrid is believed to hand Mourinho a large amount to spend in the Summer transfer market. Real failed to win any silverware last season despite spending a huge amount to land the players like Ronaldo and Kaka last summer.

This year, they are ready to go for the players Mourinho suggests, and in return, they want trophy next season. After bringing Champions League glory to Inter Milan, Mourinho has once again proved that he has the ‘magic touch’ when it comes to winning trophies.

Reports available in the media also suggest that the coach is also keen to sign Chelsea left back Ashley Cole. However, signing Gerrard and Lampard would not be that easy after the two players having spent big part of their successful careers at their current clubs.

Jose Mourinho: Signing Chelsea Players is Tough

Jose Mourinho, the current manager of Inter Milan, has said that it is tough to sign players from Chelsea as the blues take a rigid stance in their valuation of their players. He thinks Chelsea wants high price for their players, and thus, making it difficult to sign players from Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho tried to sign Ricardo Carvalho and Deco in June, but walked out of his attempt when Chelsea valuated the two players with huge price tags. Mourinho is now in the transfer market looking for an attacking minded midfielder before the new season stars in Serie A. Now, let us see if Mourinho can find someone who would fit all the requirements to play as a midfield general at Inter Milan next season.

Chelsea got a new manager from Serie A and I am doubtful if Portuguese midfielder Deco is in his plan. So, I think, there is still possibility that Chelsea would like to let Deco go in the current transfer window. In fact, Chelsea’s interest in AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo makes it more apparent that Deco might not be in Chelsea’s plan next season, though nothing is confirmed yet.

(This entry was originally published on Thursday, January 1st, 2009)

The future of Didier Drogba at Chelsea continues to become uncertain as the Ivorian striker was handed a £100,000 fine after the player had criticized the club for not providing enough help to him when he felt lonely and lacked motivation following the death of his grandmother. Chelsea took no time to respond to his comment in the press, handing him a fine worth his one week wage. The club also asked for an explanation of his comment. Moreover, some of his Chelsea teammates also expressed their disappointments at his comment. Even, reports have it in the media that some of the Chelsea players have requested his transfer in January transfer window.

Didier Drogba Not Linked with Inter Milan, Claims Agent

(This entry was originally posted in this blog on December 4, 2008 and the information is based on that time.)

Chelsea’s Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has once again become the newspaper headline for wrong reason. This time, rumors out in the media suggested that the striker was going to leave Chelae in order to join his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. However, Drogba’s agent Thierno Seydi has recently made it clear that the Didier Drogba has no link with Inter Milan yet and the player has not met anyone from Inter Milan.

Fansfc reported:

“Officially, I tell you firmly, Didier never met anyone from Inter,” Seydi told Le 10 Sport.
“It is disrespectful to say that. His priority is to give his best for Chelsea. He is absolutely not unhappy. To talk about a transfer is just not topical, despite everything you hear and read - there is nothing.”

Moreover, a few weeks earlier, Didier Drogba said that he would like to finish his career at Chelsea. He also added that he was very happy with the new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari who wanted Drogba to stay at the club after his arrival at the North London club during last summer. Following the departure of Jose Mourinho, Drogba publicly talked in favor of his former coach and it was pretty much certain that he was not happy with Mourinho leaving the club. That became an issue during Summer transfer window when many linked Drogba with a move to Inter Milan, the current destination of Jose Mourinho.

Well, as of now, Didier Drogba wants to stay at the club. However, things change pretty quickly in the transfer market. So, let us just wait and see for how long the striker would stay at the London based club.

Jose Mourinho: No Body Can Say No to Manchester United

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has recently expressed that no body can say no when he is approached for the managerial role at Manchester United. The current Inter Milan boss was asked by the journalists if he would consider a move to Manchester United if approached. In reply, Mourinho said that no body can refuses offers made by a very few clubs and Manchester United is one of those clubs.

There are reports out in the media suggesting that Manchester United’s current manager Sir Alex Ferguson could quit his managerial career at the end of the next season following his son Darren Ferguson said last week that Manchester United would be looking for the new at the end of the next season. However, Mourinho does not believe that Ferguson is going to retire in 2010 because, he thinks, Ferguson is healthy and happy in his job and there is no reason to call it a day so early.
