Deco Unhappy as Chelsea Sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari

Portuguese midfielder is known as a great admirer of Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari who helped him get the Portuguese nationality to play for Portugal in international football when Scolari was the coach of Portugal national team. It is believed that the Brazilian born footballer joined Chelsea mainly because of Scolari. Now that, Chelsea has sacked Scolari recently following a spate of poor performance, Deco has revealed his sadness over the matter.

Terming Scolari a great coach, Deco says that it was a shame that Scolari could not continue his job at Chelsea for a longer period. However, he accepts the matter, stating that in football this kind of things happen. With Scolari being sacked, many are now pessimistic about Deco’s future at Chelsea too. However, former Barcelona star has said that he is committed to play for Chelsea and is keen to prove that he deserves a place in the Chelsea squad. Saying that he was signed by Chelsea, not by Scolari, Deco thinks Chelsea is going through a tough time, but he is optimistic about Chelsea.

Most English clubs are now more worried about the economic recession rather than change of coach in Chelsea. Even Indian outsourcing companies have the same kind of worry.

Didier Drogba Fined £100,000 for Making Controversial Comment

The future of Didier Drogba at Chelsea continues to become uncertain as the Ivorian striker was handed a £100,000 fine after the player had criticized the club for not providing enough help to him when he felt lonely and lacked motivation following the death of his grandmother. Chelsea took no time to respond to his comment in the press, handing him a fine worth his one week wage. The club also asked for an explanation of his comment. Moreover, some of his Chelsea teammates also expressed their disappointments at his comment. Even, reports have it in the media that some of the Chelsea players have requested his transfer in January transfer window.

Since the departure of former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, Didier Drogba was heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea. Even after joining Inter Milan, Mourinho also expressed his wish to reunite with his former student in Italy. However, few weeks ago, Mourinho also dismissed the talk of Drogba joining Inter Milan in January transfer window. Moreover, Drogba himself was also quoted in the media that the player wanted to finish his career at Chelsea and he is very much happy with Chelsea’s new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Luiz Felipe Scolari Joined Bunyodkor Club in Uzbekistan

World Cup winning Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has signed on a coaching deal for Uzbekistan club Bunyodkor who are currently the champion in their domestic league. The veteran has thus followed the footstep of fellow countryman Zico who also coached Bunyodkor earlier.

Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked by Chelsea last February following a series of poor show by the English club that eventually ended his 7-month stint at the West London club. Scolari has been signed for 18 months by Bunyodkor who are the semi finalists of Asian Champions League. After leading Brazil to win the 2002 world cup in South Korea and Japan, Scolari coached Portugal for 5 years and then moved to Chelsea. Now, let us see if Luiz Felipe Scolari can live up to the expectation of Bunyodkor fans.

Sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari and Few Reflections

It has been more than a month, Chelsea sacked world cup winning Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari following a series of poor performance by Chelsea. Dutch manager Guus Hiddink joined the Blues immediately thereafter and turned around Chelsea’s performance overnight as the Blues are now 7 match winning streak in all competition under the guidance of Hiddink. Well, I asked myself the question many times that what was exactly the reason behind the sacking of Scolari who started off very well in Stamford Bridge?

Different reports out in the media seem to be misleading. Chelsea’s poor show seems to have been instrumental behind the sacking of Scolari who joined Chelsea with lots of promise and hopes last Summer. However, Scolari himself expressed that some of the Chelsea players like goalkeeper Peter Cech, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba had a big role behind his losing the job. You might find some truth in his statement when you will know that Cech, Ballack and Drogba have recently expressed their extreme happiness under the new coach Guus Hiddink.

Well, do not blame me for making any statement in this regard. Reports even also suggest that the Brazilian coach had a conflict with Drogba which was reportedly forced Chelsea to choose between Scolari and Drogba. However, Chelsea’s assistant coach dismissed any kind of dressing room rift between the two.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has some supporters in Chelsea too. Ashley Cole gives the credit to Scolari for helping him to play his best football for Chelsea ever. In fact, Cole is so impressed that he even considers Scolari as a father figure and Cole has said that he would miss the Brazilian in Chelsea.

I do not know what the exact reason behind his sacking was, but I think, Chelsea should not have sacked him midway through the season because every coach at this level deserves a certain period of time to show what he is capable of. Specially, when someone has the previous record of winning a world cup, you must admit the man has something in him. Like Hiddink, Scolari also started off very well in the season with Chelsea winning a series of games on a row. At one stage, Chelsea was missing most of the first team players through injury and was mainly relying on the reserve bench players. Still, Scolari kept the Blues in the winning run and there were many who got surprised by the ruthless performance of injury-hit Chelsea squad.

I do not believe that only performance can determine class and talent. Scolari is definitely a great coach who not only helps the players on tactics, but also influences them psychologically and helps the players to become confident. Though he has recently been linked with Manchester City, it is not yet confirmed what would be the next destination of Scolari.
