Manchester United holds their top position in the English Premier League point table

English club Manchester United has remained their position at the top of English Premier League point table after getting 2-1 victory against Liverpool on 21st March 2010. This match was played at Old Trafford. It is the home venue of Manchester United.

A lot of fans enjoyed an exciting game between these two rival teams. Liverpool striker Fernando Torres scored the first goal of this match and put his team in front against the home team. However, they could not continue it long time as Wayne Rooney leveled the score soon after with a rebound of his own penalty. Park Ji-Sung helped Manchester United to get victory after scoring the second goal with a header in the second-half.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina saved penalty that was shot by Rooney. However, he did not miss the chance to make score in the second attempt. It was his 33rd goal in this season.

There was a lot of criticism revolve around the penalty. Some say that Manchester United’s penalty was wrong decision. It could be free kick.

However, Manchester United is leading the table with 69 points from 31 matches. Arsenal is just two points behind than them after playing same amount of matches. Chelsea is now in the third position. This club is four points behind than Manchester United. But they have played one match less than these two top ranked teams.
