Manchester United is going to travel to Birmingham City on 9 January 2010 (Saturday) with the goal to revive their form after a disappointing December 2009. You can find live score of the match here in this blog.
The starting time of the match if 17:30 GMT. United is out of FA Cup this season and in the league table, they are in the second position.  For 8th placed Birmingham, this is a good opportunity to edge pass Liverpool in the point table for a day because Liverpool will play against Tottenham on Sunday. This season, Birmingham drew with Liverpool, Manchester Cit and Chelsea. So, their performance against big clubs was exceptionally well. However, they lost to Arsenal. The mach against Manchester United is a home match for Birmingham and the supporters are hoping for an upset because Man U do not look invincible this season.
For Manchester United, injury is still a major cause of concern. The squad looked a bit shaky in the recent weeks. Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Birmingham coach Alex McLeish.
"There is an improvement in the league. You have to assess it that way. Look at Birmingham and the fantastic job Alex McLeish has done. He only had a small amount of money to budget with when they came into the Premier League,” said Alex Ferguson.
With the halfway mark, it is becoming a very exciting EPL season this time.
Birmingham coach Alex McLeish has stated he wants to get points from the match. If Birmingham can avoid defeat in tomorrow’s match then it will be a record for them- avoiding defeat in 12 matches in Premier League. In 1907-08 season, Birmingham was unbeaten in 11 matches at a stretch. McLeish has said that he does not care for any record but he wants to get points and it would be nice if he can tomorrow.
"Well, it is always nice to break a record but at the end of the day we know at some stage we will lose a game.
If we don’t break it, it is not the end of the world and what the players have been very good at this season – and last season – is bouncing back from setbacks.
So, if we were to get a setback during the game, I know our players have it in our locker to come back at United.
We are not shouting from the rooftops that we are going to do this or that to Manchester United.
All I ask is that the players, everyone of them, do themselves justice, like they have done in the past 20 games," said Alex McLeish.
