Manchester United Looking for Shirt Sponsor, as AIG Not Likely to Extend Current Sponsorship Deal

Manchester United is looking for a new shirt sponsor as their current deal with American International Group Inc. is running out at the end of 2009-2010 season. The English club currently has a sponsorship deal with AIG worth 19 million- pound ($26.6 million). Current English and European champions are now looking for an improved deal, luring the worldwide companies by showing their recent performance, the number of stars currently available at the club and their large fan base around the world.

AIG is unlikely to extend their sponsorship deal with Manchester United. That is why, the club has recently sent an open invitation for a shirt sponsorship deal to a number of widely recognized companies across the world, and it is expected that Manchester United is looking to increase the price of the deal. Reports have it in the media that Manchester United also sent such an invitation to Sahara India Pariwar, one of the biggest conglomerates in India, stating the advantages of getting into a sponsorship deal with the club. Sahara India Pariwar is the official sponsor of Indian cricket team.

Manchester Untied is currently giving more importance to Asian market when it comes to marketing and promotion as there is a large fan base of Manchester Untied in Asia. Manchester United is also planning to tour Asia during which the club will take part in a number of exhibition matches in Malaysia, China, South Korea and Indonesia. Now, let us see if Manchester United can mange a sponsorship deal from an Asian company.
