Manchester United Wins Premier League 2007-08 Title

Manchester United has become the Champion of English Premier League 2007-2008. After a highly competitive season, the Red Devils clinched their 17th league title today. In the last match of the season, Sir Alex Ferguson boys won at Wigan Athletic 2-0, which was enough to claim their 10th premiership title under Alex Ferguson.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened scoring in the 33rd minute of the first half through a penalty kick, won by Wayne Rooney. With this goal, Ronaldo took his goal tally to 31 and finished the season as the top scorer. Overall, it is the 41st goal from this Portuguese midfielder. However, Manchester United was not in relaxed mode until they got the second goals in the 81st minute thanks to Ryan Giggs. That brought the celebrating mode among the Manchester United fans and players.

Manchester United’s closest rival Chelsea failed to win over Bolton Wanderers which was needed for the Avram Grant side in order to equalize with Manchester United in terms of points. However, Chelsea was held to a 1-1 draw at home. So, it is for sure Chelsea fans were not happy with the performance of Chelsea players. To add pain to the injury, Chelsea Captain John Terry left the field with an arm injury after being collided with Chelsea keeper Petr Cech. However, the English defender is confident to come back in action before the Champions League final of 21st May.

Arsenal led the league table most of the time and even around three months before, the Gunners had a five points lead over Manchester Untied in the league point table. However, after a series of draws, Arsenal lost their momentum and now finished third in the season, followed by Liverpool in the fourth place. So, Manchester United and Chelsea have ensured direct entrance to next season Champions League, while Arsenal and Liverpool have to start from the third round qualifying stage of Champions League in order to ensure their entrance in to the final competition of Champions League.

Manchester United has played excellently well, except a few slip ups. Cristiano Ronaldo played a big role behind their success, while Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez formed a lethal combination in the front of Manchester United. I personally think that Arsenal also played very well with some young players. Chelsea suffered a lot because of a series of injury problems middle of the season, while Liverpool players, despite a bad start, found themselves at the end, but it was too late to compensate and to come back in the title race.

Many, many CONGRATULATIONS for MANCHESTER UNITED from TECHTAINMENT.
