Platini Urges Ronaldo to Prove His Worth in European Championship

Christiano Ronaldo has been in an imperious form this season. This is now known to all as his 27 goals so far this season have been in evidence of his impressive from. The Portuguese winger is now leading the premier league highest scorer list with 19 goals including the enthralling 25-yard goal from a superb free kick against Portsmouth in the very last game of Manchester United.

However, UEFA president and former French legend, Michel Platini has called on Ronaldo to continue his phenomenal form in the European Championships. Yes, the critics of Ronaldo are heard to speak about Ronaldo’s underperformance in the big matches. So, Platini has given challenge to Ronaldo, one of the biggest stars of present day football.

"If Ronaldo is the best player in the world or Europe he will have to prove it in the Euros because that will be the only way we can judge him, when all the best players will have had the chance to be recognised," he declared.

"It's difficult to compare players in competitions and teams. Is it more difficult to play right wing in Manchester than it is in Italy, where it doesn't exist?

"Ronaldo has a number of advantages to his game and, of course, the last matches in the finals of the European Championship this summer will be decisive."

Ronaldo has been performing with sheer consistent since 2006. He was instrumental in Manchester United’s last season premier league triumph. So, there is no doubt about his potential. However, the winger needs to go a long way ahead of him in order to rise to the level of a great player. To do that, Ronaldo needs to go on with his impressive form in the years to come in both club and international football.
