Chelsea might keep their Captain John Terry out of the final line up for the Carling Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur. The former England captain retuned to action in Chelsea’s FA Cup fifth round match last week after recovering from foot injury. Midfielder Frank Lampard also took part in that match since falling in injury last December. However, both of them were sidelined during Chelsea’s Champions League last 16 tie against Olympiacos. Though both of them have recovered from injury, Coach Avram Grant might not have satisfied with their match fitness. So, reports have it that they are most probably out of the league cup final.

The Times reported:

“JT and I understood the reasons for not playing. You have to be mature as a professional and understand that,” Lampard said. “But it doesn’t mean you can’t be frustrated.

“That’s what the manager would expect. He’d be disappointed if we weren’t frustrated.

“There have been years when players have played a lot of games and we stayed strong until the end of the season. We need to show that again.

“It’s easy to talk about having fresh legs which we have at the minute but we need to perform as a team.”

Chelsea manger Grant could opt to play in-form center back Alex in the place of Terry. Alex played very well in their goalless draw in the Champions league match. Lampard, on the other hand, might be overseen by German star Michael Ballack as he is also in good form. You can see that Lampard is a bit disappointed for not getting his regular first team place since his coming back in action from injury. It is natural as well. However, local fans will be happy to see their local boy Lampard in the starting line up. In that cases, Ballack could be out of the final line up.
