After the hardly-won victory over Birmingham City, Manchester United is going to host Aston Villa on Saturday in the third round match of FA Cup. So, Manchester Untied is now focusing on their upcoming clash against Aston Villa. Though there will be a week off in the premiership, teams have no chance to relax. Aston Villa has been in an impressive run this season so far with 36 points from 21 matches. They are now eyeing on the fifth place of the premier league table in order to ensure their ticket of the UEFA Cup next season.

On the other hand, Manchester United is going though a tough time as their performance is not that much satisfactory and they are missing some of their key players kept out with injuries. Manchester Untied is now within two points of leader Arsenal. So, they are still in the championship race. Now, ahead of the FA Cup showdown against Aston Villa on Saturday, Manchester Untied will miss their informed striker Carlos Tevez as he suffered an ankle injury in the first half of their New Year’s Day victory over Birmingham City after scoring the winner for Manchester United. It was thought initially that he could have broken his ankle, but the club official website later cleared it saying he has just got a badly bruised right ankle.

CNN reported:

The Argentina international was carried off after 71 minutes of United's 1-0 win over Birmingham at Old Trafford on Tuesday and there were fears he could even have suffered a broken ankle.

But a United spokesman told the Premier League club's Web site "Nothing is broken, Carlos Tevez has just got a badly bruised right ankle."

Well, there are few other players who are still in doubtful for the upcoming tie with Ashton Villa. Captain Gary Neville and Paul Scholes are recovering from their injuries. However, they are yet to get their match fitness. Gary Neville needs to go though some match practice whereas Paul Scholes is expected to be back by mid-February.

Sky Sports reported:

Club captain Neville has not featured at all this season after picking up an ankle injury in March and Scholes has been missing since undergoing knee surgery in October.

Ferguson has now revealed that Neville only requires match practice before he can make his return to the fold and that Scholes should be back in first-team contention by the middle of February.

However, striker Wayne Rooney is expected to return to action. Rooney was sidelined for Manchester Untied’s last two premiership matches due to suffering from viral fever. So, it is definitely good news for Manchester Untied as their inform striker is now fit to take part in the match against Aston Villa.

Manchester United also faced Ashton Villa last season at Old Trafford where the host clinched a 2-1 victory over Ashton Villa and that win will inspire Manchester Untied to play well and outperform Ashton Villa once again in front of the home crowed. In fact, the two teams faced each other three times in the last six seasons in FA Cup. However, Aston Villa has been playing consistently well throughout the season and the task will not be so easy for Manchester United this time around.

Soccerlens reported:

Manchester United and Aston Villa met at the same stage last year at Old Trafford where Sir Alex Ferguson’s side beat them 2-1. This year though there could be a slight alteration in the result as an in-form Villa are inching towards a likely UEFA Cup place and possibly more and Manchester United have started picking up form at exactly the right moment after some early season bumps.

Aston Villa has projected an inspirational 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the premiership match. Earlier, they defeated Wigan Athletic with the same score line. What is more, their 4-4 drawn match against Chelsea has been instrumental to boost up their confidence level and they will definitely appear with ‘nothing to lose’ mode against Manchester Untied.

However, Manchester United is not in their prime form at this moment. They have suffered a 1-2 defeat to West Ham United last week that led them down in the league point table after achieving the leading position just a week before. However, with their victory over Birmingham City, they remain within two points of Arsenal. Forward Cristiano Ronaldo is now the highest goal scorer of the season with scoring 13 times whereas Wayne Rooney is now in good form. So, both the strikers need to appear with their impressive form against Aston Villa in the upcoming FA Cup match on this Saturday.

Manchester United’s defense has been impressive as well throughout the season with conceding only three goals in their home matches. So, Aston Villa strikers will face strong challenge to break down the Manchester United defense. Defender Rio Ferdinand played a great role behind the well proof defense of Manchester United.

Times Online reported:

With only three goals conceded on home soil this term, the United defence is once again providing the platform for a sustained title challenge and with Arsenal still to visit Old Trafford in April, Ferdinand is content with the current situation.

Of infinitely less pleasure to the 29-year-old is last Saturday's defeat at West Ham United. Not only did Ferdinand have to suffered the indignity of losing against his former club, he had to watch brother Anton score the goal that brought the West Ham level.

The main advantage of Aston Villa ahead of their clash against Manchester Untied is that they have not any major injury problem. So, manager Martin O'Neill has all the options open ahead of the FA Cup third round match. Key players Olof Mellberg and Martin Laursen are now in talk with the club to extend their contract. So, Aston Villa has a good chance to continue their tremendous performance this season.

Now, it seems that both teams are strong enough to present with an exciting match. However, it is not easy to predict who are going win the match. Btoh teams are capable of winning the match as they have some quality players who can lead their side to lead to win the match. However, what is obvious is that neither Mancehster United nor Aston Villa will leave any ground for each other in the match.
