Arsenal has been in an impressive run so far in the premier league this season. With 50 points to their credit, Arsenal is going towards another championship title. Arsenal projected a superb 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Tuesday in premiership maintaining two point lead over Manchester United. Now, Arsenal will have a week off in the next week in English premier league. However, Arsenal will travel to Turf Moo to take on Burley in the third round match of FA Cup on Sunday. Burnley is currently out of premiership and the club is expected not to create any major problem for Arsenal.

Burnley vs Arsenal match is now the center of all attention though the Gunners will face arch rival Tottenham Hotspur three days later in the semi final match of Carling Cup. Arsenal has made newspaper headlines from the very beginning of this season. After the departure of Thierry Henry last summer, it seemed Arsenal would have hardly any chance to win any tournament this season with no star player in the team. However, Arsene Wenger has made it possible with a young side with full of will power and talent. Now, ahead of the match against Burnley, there is enough evident to say that Arsenal is favorite to win the match.

Arsenalpies reported:

Sunday sees the start of Arsenal's 2008 FA Cup campaign when we take on Burnley away in the third round of the tournament.

The Championship side last won a match seven games ago and are currently languishing in mid table, so on paper, at least, they shouldn't pose too many problems for the high flying Gunners.

Arsenal fans are now worried as they are going to miss some of their key players heading off to take part in the African Nations Cup this month. Kolo Touré, Emmanuel Eboué, Alexandre Song will leave Arsenal to participate in the continental tournament. However, they are expected to be available for the match against Burnley.

Times Online reported:

William Gallas insisted yesterday that the Arsenal squad is strong enough to cope with the loss of key players during the African Cup of Nations and does not need to be reinforced during the transfer window.

Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, could be without Kolo Touré and Emmanuel Eboué for up to six weeks after Sunday’s FA Cup third-round tie against Burnley, depending on Ivory Coast’s progress in the tournament in Ghana, which runs from January 20 to February 10. Alexandre Song will also be away with Cameroon, although Emmanuel Adebayor is staying in London because Togo failed to qualify for the finals.

Well, Arsenal captain William Gallas can be a bit more optimistic in this regard. However, the reality is that these key players have played a big part in Arsenal’s impressive performance this season. Now, it is thought that Arsene Wenger will definitely feature a more young side ahead of the match against Burnley and give rest to some of the key players ahead of the Carling Cup semi final match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Breakingnews reported:

Sunday will be the last match before Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Alex Song head off to the African Nations Cup, which could see the trio away for a month.
Wenger indicated he would put out a strong side at Turf Moor in a match which will be shown live on the BBC, with one eye also on keeping his youngsters fresh for the Carling Cup semi-final clash with north-London rivals Tottenham.

So, the main question is how if Burnley can show enough resistance to hold down Arsenal’s tremendous run. However, the recent performance of Burnley is not satisfactory at all. Burnley has suffered a 0-3 defeat to their arch rival Blackpool. It is clear enough that Burnley’s confidence level is down at this moment though they have a reputation as giant killer.

Halifaxcourier reported:

Kaspar Gorkss, Ben Burgess and Claus Jorgensen scored to earn Blackpool their third win in four and a first victory over the Clarets since April 1998.
The result ended Burnley's formidable record away from Turf Moor since Coyle was installed as boss in late November.
They had won three and drawn one of the previous four games on the road but looked devoid of options in attack and struggled in defence ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie with Arsenal.

It shows that Burnley was in good form before their match against Blackpool. What is more, they may play well as they have nothing to lose against Arsenal. Rather, if they can make it to the fourth round of FA Cup then the 1914’s FA Cup winner will get something more than inspiration.

Arsenal has good news ahead of the match against Burnley. Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner will be in the pool of Arsene Wenger’s consideration for the starting line up after missing the last match for suspension. Another forward, Eduardo da Silva is also in a good form with three goals from his last five appearances for Arsenal. So, the Croatian is expected to play a big role against Burnley.
