After a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Real Mallorca in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid has got another rare shock this season. Real Madrid has been in an impressive run this season with only 2 loses out of 18 league matches. Real Madrid is still leading the league table with 44 points, keeping the seven points clear of second-placed Barcelona on the league race. However, they have not been at their best in the last two matches including the 2-0 league victory against Real Zaragoza, where they were lucky enough to pick up three points along with the heroics of goal keeper Iker Casillas. Now, the only good news for Real Madrid is that they are going to face bottom-placed team Levante in their next league match at the Ciudad de Valencia on Sunday.

However, Real Madrid can not feel relaxed considering that the fact that they have suffered a humiliating defeat to Levante last season in front of their own supporters. Levante has been on a poor form this season with only 8 points from 18 matches. Their 14 league defeats so far are enough to show their frustrating league performance. So, it is apparent that Real Madrid is favorite in the match, though Levante will try their best to count the home advantage.

Iker Casillas, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Raul and Robinho in Great Form

The Spanish goal keeper Iker Casillas has been revelation this season with lots of superb saves leading Real Madrid to continue their winning run. His performance in against Zaragoza saved Real Madrid from slip up.

IOL reported:

Last weekend Real churned out a flattering 2-0 win over Real Zaragoza to keep them seven points clear of Barcelona but they were indebted to goalkeeper Iker Casillas who has been an unsung hero this season.

"It is not my place to say I am the best goalkeeper in the world," said Casillas. "I am happy with how I am playing and that I have been at this level for a long time."

If Iker Casillas is the hero on the back line then Nistelrooy, Raul and Robinho are in the front line of Real Madrid. Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been in imperious form with nine league goals so far in the season. He was rested against Real Mallorca on Thursday. Now, ahead of the clash with Levante, the Dutch striker can inspire himself remembering his last season hat trick in Real’s 4-1 triumph at the Levante home ground.

Sportinglife reported:

Van Nistelrooy, who on Wednesday penned a new contract with Real that ties him to the Spanish giants until 2010, scored a hat-trick in last season's corresponding fixture, which the capital club won 4-1.

And looking ahead to Sunday's trip to the Ciutat de Valencia, the Dutchman said: "I hope I do it again!

"Every match is different, of course. Let's see how well we do. My goal is always the same, to score and help my team win," the former Manchester United hitman added.

However, Real Madrid has some injury woes ahead of the match against Levante. Midfielder Javier Balboa and striker Raul sustained knee injury from the last match against Real Malorca. Though Raul’s injury is not that much series, he may miss the club’s Sunday showdown, while Javier Balboa is certainly missing the match.

Goal.com reported:

When he left the field, he appeared to be in a serious state. He will undergo medical tests at the club to determine the length of time he would be sidelined for.

Balboa will not be alone, as teammate Raul Gonzalez also picked a knee injury. He could miss this weekend's matc against Levante, but is likely to recover in time for return leg against Mallorca next week.

Levante has, however, experienced a success at last in their recent match. They drew with Valencia in their last league match. So, they must be upbeat ahead of the tough clash against Real Madrid. In addition, they can take some inspiration from their last season victory against on Real’s home ground.

Goal.com reported:

At least, that's what the form books say. The granota side still have just eight points to show for their work so far, while Real Madrid are surging ahead with 44.
But stranger things have happened, and in the last Liga game, Levante did manage a draw away from home against the might of Valencia.

As I have mentioned earlier that Real Madrid has the better chance to win the match, I would like to add that Real Madrid has some great footballers who can defeate any side in their days, but the main thing is that Real Madrid sometimes play like a team who seems to have no plan in the field. Levante has a squad that has some limitations. However, they need to play according to what they have. Now, let us see if Levante can cause an upset against Real Madrid in front of the home crowd.
