Apple iPad 2 first day sales: Stores sold out their inventories in just few hours

Apple iPad 2 sales started on March 11, 2011 and it has been a resounding success. Many stores saw their iPad 2 inventories being emptied in just matter of two hours. There were long lines in front of many stores and many could not get the device they had been looking for.

In San Francisco, Best Buy sold out its iPad 2 stock in just two hours. Apple Union Street store had long lines stretching around four sides of the block. It sold out all the Wi-Fi only iPad 2s while the remaining stock contained the black colored 32GB and 64GB 3G iPad 2s from Verizon and AT&T. The store planned to remain open through mid-night. Apple staffs were also prepared to maintain the line. They continuously updated customers about the latest condition of the stock.

The Apple retail outlet at the Fifth Avenue of New York city ran out of all but the 64GB Verizon 3G iPad 2s at 11 p.m. When the staffs informed the people majority of them walked away. The staffs guessed that these people were actually gray market sellers who were looking for the GSM iPad 2 to send to other countries.
