Review of the Asus Eee PC 1018PB-BK801 netbook

The most popular consumer electronics company, Asus, has unveiled its new netbook, Eee PC 1018PB-BK801.

The Asus Eee PC 1018PB-BK801 offers a competitive performance, a standard feature set, and a satisfactory design. Priced at $379.99, it is available at retail stores. It also offers a standard one-year warranty on parts and labor.

It is obviously a good device for those looking for a netbook below $400.

It features a 10.1-inch display that supports a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels. It ensures good graphics and vibrant color on display.

With the measure of 10.3 inches wide x 7.1 inches deep x 0.9 thick and weighing just 2.4 pounds, the netbook has become the very portable and great for travel. It is easy to carry anywhere.

The Asus Eee PC 1018PB-BK801 includes a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450 processor that comes with a 512 KB of L2 cache powers. Though the processor is nothing special, it gives the 1018PB-BK801 a performance that is similar to that of competing netbooks. With the processor, common daily tasks can easily be done such as composing email, surfing the web, editing documents and some multimedia.

It comes with only 1 GB of DDR2 SDRAM to help multitasking. However, it user can upgrade it up to 2 GB.

It has 250 GB hard drive storage capacity and an Intel UMA card supports graphics. It has good battery life. It will provide around eight hours of battery life on a full charge if too many powerful activities are not done. If powerful activities are done then it may provide less than rated eight hours.

It features 802.11n Wi-Fi for connectivity. Now, it is impossible to think a netbook without Wi-Fi technology. It also has 0.3-megapixel webcam and microphone for video chatting. There is a 3-in-1 memory card reader on board, which formats such as MultiMediaCards, SD cards, and more. It makes data transfer easier from other devices to netbooks.

However, because of its small size, there is no built-in DVD drive. So, users will have to invest in an external DVD drive for entertainment.

Compared to other small size netbooks, it has spacious keyboard. It features wide keys that are flat and easy to type with. It also has spacious and responsive touch pad. What is more is that it supports some multi-touch gestures.
