The time of Sania Mirza and Sunanda Pushkar

For the last few days, my another blog (South Asia Blog) is getting decent amount of traffic from two topics: Sania Mirza Marriage and Sunanda Pushkar controversy. None of them have anything to do with Bollywood or perhaps cricket but they have captured the center stage of the media coverage in India.

Sania Mirza just got married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. Media did not have that much access in this marriage and as a result, people were interested to know every small details. Some people in India became annoyed with Sania as she married a Pakistani man. Some political leaders even said some bad words against her and called on Indian government not to allow her to represent India in tennis matches. As a result, many people now round the clock want to know about the latest development.

Sunanda Pushkar has perhaps overnight become a huge celebrity for the wrong reason. She is the girl friend of an Indian minister and there is some allegations that she is a ‘proxy’ for the minister Shashi Tharoor vs Lalit Modi in the recent successful bidding of IPL Kochi team. So, people want to know about Sunanda Pushkar.
