Ferguson: Owen Can be Part of England Squad for World Cup 2010

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that English striker Michael Owen still has enough chances to be part of England squad for next year’s FIFA World Cup. The striker has recently been called up by England national team coach Fabio Capello in the 30-men preliminary squad for an upcoming friendly match against Netherlands.



The 29-year-old was not at his best over the last couple of years as he struggled with injury and form both for his country and club. Michael Owen has made a move to Manchester United this summer from Newcastle United, and thus, indicating a possible revival in his career. Besides praising his talent and skill as a player, Ferguson also warned the striker about a stiff competition that he has to face to clinch a regular spot in both Manchester United and England squad. He also said that Owen must prove his skill and talent to get a regular place in the England national team because his reputation would not earn him a place in the squad.
