(This entry was originally published on Monday, January 5th, 2009)

This is a match that has already generated a lot of attention among sports fans because of the reason that Manchester united is on adventure of winning the four titles this season. Manchester united is in great shape in English premier league, They are also doing fine in FA cup, the club is still alive in UEFA champions League and they’re pretty close to win the title of Carling Cup 2009. In the semifinal they’re traveling away to play against derby. But it is the first leg of the senate panel and the second leg will be played in Old Trafford.

AFP wrote:

No team have ever won all four trophies in the same season but Ferguson said: “I think we have a good enough squad to compete in every competition, as long as we do not pick up any injuries. That is the most important thing.

“Cup football is a knockout situation so you never know what is going to happen,” the 67-year-old Scot added.

“We have some good young players at the club and these games are an opportunity for them to get some experience under their belts.

“Players like Welbeck and Gibson have shown today they have the confidence and the right temperament.”

I am giving the time and venue of the match here:

Date: 7 January 2009 (Wednesday)

Kick off time: 1945 GMT

Venue: Pride Park

It is a very hectic schedule for Man united and they are playing 6 matches in 17 days. Well, their impressive form has put them into tight schedule this month. They’re going well in FA cup and carling cup. If you look at arsenal then you will notice that they did not take carling cup very seriously and instead, they put their young side but and got out early in the tournament. On the other hand, Manchester united to this tournament very seriously and all the time fielded strong team. So, in the match against Derby, you can expect that Manchester united will field a very strong team and the good news is that Carlos Tevez is back to play in the match.

Sky Sports reported:

Regarding the rest of his side, Ferguson will largely select from the same squad which overcame Southampton 3-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

He added: “It’ll be virtually the same squad [that travelled to Southampton]. I might leave out one or two, but it’ll be more or less the same group of players.”

Carlos Tevez is in good form these days. His performance helped Man Utd to win in the earlier rounds of Carling Cup 2009. So, his presence will surely boost the mental strength of his team mates.

About Derby BBC wrote:

Derby find themselves in the strange position of being in their first domestic cup semi-final since 1968 but without a full-time manager.

Chris Hutchings, who was appointed caretaker following the departure of Paul Jewell, will pick the side and will probably hope for a less eventful game than his first in charge.

The only thing that should encourage Derby players is that they are in their home. In case you did not know, Derby even does not play in premier league. They are playing at Coca-Cola Football League Championship and is struggling this season in the league table. But so, their supporters are very happy that they could come in the semifinal of the Carling Cup.

I think that Manchester united will win the match easily as they have much beaters side and at the same time they’re in top form in English premier league and on the other hand, Derby is struggling in their own league.
