Captain John Terry Confident of Chelsea Winning Silverware This Season

(This entry was originally published on Monday, January 5th, 2009)

Chelsea captain John Terry has recently called for unity among the Chelsea players, staffs and fans in order to win silverware this season. Despite Chelsea’s poor run of recent weeks, Terry thinks that Chelsea can still will several titles this season, but to do that Chelsea must show more unity and consistency. Terry was sidelined for the last couple of weeks as the England international served a three-match ban imposed on him as he was sent off during a premier league match at Everton.

Sky Sports reported:

“Firstly we must all stick together. We take on the world as one - us players, management and staff and especially the supporters.

“Secondly, we want some winners’ medals. We didn’t get any in 2008 and we need to put that right.

“We can win the FA Cup. We can win the Premier League and the Champions League too.

“We need to be more consistent, we need to play better and sometimes we need to be together more, including the fans, but we can certainly do all that.”

Chelsea is now 3 points adrift of leader Liverpool in premier league; and thus, is still in the title race of premier league. However, the Blues has already been crashed out of League Cup after being defeated by Burnley in penalty shoot out. Recently, Chelsea was held to a 1-1 home draw by League One team Southend in the FA Cup third round encounter, having suffered a late equalizer. However, still, Chelsea captain is upbeat of winning all the titles available at this moment this season. Now, let us see if Chelsea can really make strong bid for every title coming in their way.
