Andrew Flintoff Helped England to Cinch First Ashes Victory at Lord’s in 75 Years

You might already know that Andrew Flintoff will retire from test cricket at the end of the ongoing Ashes 2009 series and this is definitely shocking news for the English cricket fans. However, the all rounder has once again proven his match winning ability as he took five wickets in the second innings of the second test at Lord’s. The significance of the victory has been huge because England has not won any Ashes test at Lord’s in the previous 75 years. In this sense, Flintoff presented a historic victory for this home side.

Despite his niggling injury concern, Andrew Flintoff has been an integral part of England’s success in world cricket for a long time. His last five-wicket haul in test cricket brought another historic achievement for England as they defeated Australia in Oval in 2005 to ensure their first Ashes series win in 18 years. Though there are many critics of Flintoff, it is true that he is a proven match winner who can win matches against any side when playing at his best.
