Phil Mickelson will play US Open for two weeks

It looks like world’s No.2 golf player is not going to disappoint his fans after all. Yes, Phil Mickelson earlier said that he would take some time off to stay with her wife Amy, as she was diagnosed with breast cancer and undergo a major surgery. The news came out on May 20, 2009, and Phil Mickelson stopped his PGA Tour indefinitely. On June 1, 2009, news reports said that Mickelson wrote in his personal website to return for a short period of time during the US Open. However, Phil Mickelson did not make any formal announcement of his returning to the PGA Tour. As per information retrieved from his personal website, Phil Mickelson will participated in St. Jude Invitational and the US Open starting from June 16, 2009 to June 20, 2009. As per Mickelson’s prior schedule, the golfer was supposed to play the Byron Nelson Invitational and the Crowne Plaza Invitational.



Regarding his wife’s condition, Amy would undergo a major surgery and the test results so far have been positive. The doctors’ determined the disease at its early stage. Though he will play for two weeks, it will bring many golf fans. In the 2002 US Open, Phil Mickelson finished second to Tiger Woods. Though he won three major tournaments but he never won the US Open. He had two wins in the current season. Next week, Mickelson will play at the tournament near Memphis.
