Sir Alex Ferguson’s Favorite Match and Title as Manchester United Manager

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently expressed his most memorable match and title as United manager during his glorious 22-year reign in charge. Manchester United won 10 premier league titles, 2 Champions League titles, 5 FA Cup and 2 League Cup titles during his managerial reign. However, he surprisingly picked up Manchester United’s first premier league title in his reign as his most satisfying achievement so far, overlooking the two dramatic Champions League triumph. With that title, Manchester United’s 26-year-long wait for a premier league title ended and kicked off a glorious era in the history of Manchester United.

Well, no doubt, winning the first premier league title was the stepping stone of United’s current dominance in premier league. You might be eagerly waiting to know the match that Ferguson terms as his most memorable during his 22-year career at Manchester United. Well, surprise exists here too as he singled out a 2001 league match away at Tottenham Hotspur. In that match, Manchester United was 3-0 down at the half time but bounced back extraordinarily to pull off a 5-3 outstanding victory thanks to second half goals from Andy Cole, Laurent Blanc, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Juan Sebastian Veron and David Beckham.

"The one that sticks out in my mind was when we were at Tottenham in September 2001 and were 3-0 down at halftime," said Fergie.

"But then we went on to beat them 5-3. It was such an amazing turnaround, and the fans played their part too. It was a great game."……

"The most satisfying achievement has to be winning the league for the first time," Fergie told United fanzine Red News. "It was really the start of what we see today, although winning the European Cup was an amazing achievement.
