Wayne Rooney Hopeful about Manchester United Progress

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney thinks that Manchester United has got over the wound they received at the beginning thanks to their poor start to the season. Now, United has won four successive matches in three different tournaments since their satisfactory draw at Stamford Bridge couple of weeks back. Rooney has also stopped the critics, who were skeptic about his fitness, scoring two goals in three games. Rooney scored in Manchester United’s latest 2-0 victory at Blackburn Rovers, helping his side pick up three important away points. Rooney thinks it was a good result against Blackburn and United is now in a decent position. Manchester United currently secures 8th place with 11 points, but they played a match less than leader Chelsea who tops the table with 17 points from seven matches.

Wayne Rooney is now hopeful that Manchester United will continue climbing in the table and he wants to help his team. He is also happy to be back to his scoring form. The English striker also dismissed all the concerns over his ankle injury ahead of England’s upcoming world cup qualifying matches against Kazakhstan and Belarus.

Times Online reported:

"Hopefully we can go on a good run now and start climbing the table. I just want to help the team really but of course, I am pleased to be back scoring goals," he said. "I tend to score in spurts. I have been like that throughout my career. Hopefully I can go on like that."

"The ankle is okay," he said. "It's been a bit weak over the last couple of weeks and I have not trained as much as I would have liked. But the situation in Denmark got misread a little bit. I came off when the game was almost over and it is not a problem."

I think, people become sometimes a bit harsh about Rooney when he does not get goals for few matches. However, they should remember that he is a player who can even contribute to his team even without scoring goals. What I like most about Rooney is that he is a dedicated team player who does not mind even playing in the defense when needed. There is no doubt, he is one of the best team players at this moment in the world.
