Oscar Larios Defends WBC Featherweight Title

Mexican boxer Oscar Larios has successfully defended his World Boxing Council featherweight title by defeating Japanese boxer Takahiro Aoh on a split point decision on 16 October 2008. Takahiro Aoh looked aggressive, but Oscar Larios fought with effectively. In the fourth round, Oscar Larios fell down on the ground and he faced some strong counter punches from Takahiro Aoh. However, from that point onward, Oscar Larios fought carefully and started winning points thanks to a number of left jabs.

Larios, who in the fifth was left staggering after another effective Aoh counter, changed tactics thereafter and fought cautiously using an array of effective left jabs.

He piled up points in the following rounds hitting right hooks and straights.

With this defeat, Japanese boxer Takahiro Aoh experienced his first ever defeat in his career. The 24-year-old is currently ranked ninth by WBC with 16 wins including 8 knock-outs, one draw a defeat. On the other hand, it was Oscar Larios’ second title defense. He has 64 wins including 42 knock outs, six defeats and a draw.
