Arsenal Posted a 3-1 Come-from-Back Victory against Everton

Arsenal could successfully get over the challenge of Everton at home on Saturday thanks to a 3-1 victory. The Gunners needed to come back from 1-0 down to pick up three points from the match. Even at the half time, Everton was leading 1-0 in the match thanks to the first half goal from Leon Osman. However, three second half goals from Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott ensured an easy victory for the home side. Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to Hull City in the previous league game at Emirates stadium.

The visitors were put ahead in the 9th minute when Osman scored a close-range goal after receiving a cross from Steven Pienaar. At the half time, it seemed Everton was going to repeat what Hull City did at the Emirates Stadium few weeks ago. Arsenal had a number of chances wasted in the first half. However, three minutes into the second half, Samir Nasri brought the equalizer for Arsenal, before Robin van Persie put Arsenal ahead in the 70th minute. After receiving a pass from Adebayor, Cesc Fabrega took a shot at goal from close range, but only to be deflected off goal keeper Howard. However, Van Persie did not make any mistake by heading home the rebound.

Though Wenger indicated that he would rest the English starlet Theo Walcott for the Everton match as he was just back from his international duty against Kazakhstan and Belarus, Wenger brought Walcott on the field as a second half substitute against Everton and Walcott scored the third goal for Arsenal from a close-range shot. With this victory, Arsenal has 16 points from 8 matches with four points adrift of leaders Chelsea and Liverpool. Though Arsenal moved to 3rd place in the league table leaving Hull City in the fourth place, Hull City can retain the third place with a victory over West Ham on Sunday. Both Liverpool and Chelsea won their respective matches in premier league.
