Chelsea Thrashed Middlesbrough 5-0 to Hold on to the Top Place in the League Standing

Chelsea got an easy 5-0 victory away at Middlesbrough on Saturday. With this victory, Chelsea holds on to the top place of the league standing with 20 points from 8 matches. The main thing is that Chelsea got such a victory without some of their regular team players like John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Deco, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba who all are out of action with injury. So, it was like a challenge for Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari to keep Chelsea’s winning run continuing and ensure Chelsea’s place atop the league standing. Chelsea got over challenge of Middlesbrough successfully.

With Middlesbrough’s excellent form against ‘Big Four’ coupled with Chelsea’s injury concern, it seemed to be a tricky fixture for the Blues. However, Chelsea came out with flying colors with Salomon Kalou’s double strike. Kalou put Chelsea ahead in the 14th minute of the first half of the match. The score was 1-0 in Chelsea’s favor at the half time. However, the visitors came out stronger in the second half with Chelsea players finding net pretty easily. Belletti scored the second for Chelsea in the 51st minute, just two minutes before Kalou’s second strike in the game. Lampard headed home the fourth goal in the 63rd minute of the match. Four minutes later Malouda completed scoring with the fifth goal. That means within 17 minutes, Chelsea got five goals in what was a total dominance by the visiting team.
