Alex Ferguson to Rest Cristiano Ronaldo for Celtic Match

It was perhaps the most reasonable excuse that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could show to solve a pleasing problem. Ferguson has got to deal with a selection problem for the Champions League showdown with Celtic today (21 October 2008). He had to accommodate three in form players of attacking line up- Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov- all of whom scored in United’s latest premier league victory over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

However, according to recent reports out in the media suggest that Ferguson will rest Ronaldo for the clash with Celtic today so that Ronaldo can shake off his minor adrenalin problem. Ronaldo’s compatriot Nani will replace him in the squad.

Goal.com reported:

"The adrenalin can carry you through the one game, but then the form dips a little bit," Ferguson said in The Sun. "When players have been out for so long there is a little response to playing all the time."

Well, Manchester United fans do not have any reason to worry about it, because United still has a number of excellent players in Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov in the attacking line up. Ferguson must have been happy to have solved the problem so easily!
