Frank Lampard Happy with Chelsea’s Progress Despite Injury Woes

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has recently expressed his happiness over Chelsea’s consistent solid performance both at home and away, despite missing a number of key players through injury. Some of the regular team players like Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien, Ricardo Carvalho, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack are now sidelined, but still Luiz Felipe Scolari’s boys are continuing their winning run and remaining at the top of the premier league table with 20 points from 8 matches.

Despite the injury woes, Chelsea has kept clean sheet in five matches in a row and scored 13 goals. In the recent premier league fixture, Chelsea defeated Middlesbrough 5-0 on the road. Lampard has said that Chelsea has the right approach at this moment and if they can hold on to it, then it would not be a problem for Chelsea to stave off the challenge of Roma tomorrow (22 October 2008) in the Champions League tie up, even though missing the key players through injury.

Times Online reported:

“We believe in everyone,” Lampard said. “We would be quite happy with the same team against Roma. If we play with the same attitude, I think we have the quality in the team. The only way we can fail is when we do not work as hard as the other team.”

Lampard also picked up Liverpool as a big threat to Chelsea’s hopes of winning premier league title this season.

Chelsea will face Liverpool in a high-profile premier league clash at Stamford Bridge on next Sunday. Lampard thinks Liverpool is a big threat for Chelsea’s hopes of winning premier league title this season, considering the consistent performance of the All Reds. Liverpool also has 20 points from same number of matches that Chelsea played, but Chelsea is leading the point table on superior goal difference.
