Sir Alex Ferguson is not happy with the performance of Manchester United defense in their morale-denting defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last night. Liverpool won the match 2-1, even though United scored first in the match. It has been United’s first defeat to Liverpool in seven years. So, naturally it will not make Ferguson happy. He is angry with the performance of his defenders and he admitted that it was unacceptable to give away two goals to Liverpool. Liverpool got the equalizer thanks to Wes Brown’s own goal in the first half, before Carlos Tevez had put Manchester Untied ahead in the third minute of the match.

Goal.com reported:

“Apart from our poor performance, giving the two goals away like we did is not acceptable for Manchester United,” he said to Sky Sports.

“When you are having a bad day you need to take something out of the game and we should of really done that, but it comes down to the defending, which was very poor for both of the goals,” Fergie added.

Alex Ferguson admitted that it was a bad day for Manchester Untied, but the manager also said that United should have come out of the match with at least one point. He said that Manchester United should have played better defensively. However, Ferguson gave the full credit to Liverpool saying that they were better side in the match.
