Croatia vs England WC Qualifying: Terry, Beckham Not Revenge Mission

Ahead of another much-awaited showdown with Croatia, who stopped England’s hope to qualify for Euro 2008 finals last November, England players are not interested to involve in any exaggerated statements and have dismissed any kind of talk about revenge mission. Media has termed Wednesday’s encounter with Croatia a match of taking revenge of England’s defeats of Euro 2008 qualifiers on both legs. However, senior players like John Terry and David Beckham do not see the match from this point of view; rather they see it as another world cup qualifier.

England’s loss to Croatia 3-2 last November broke the millions of hearts in England last year. The decisive match at Wembley has already become one of the tragic incidents of English football, considering the fact that Engalnd never missed any Euro tournaments before Euro 2008. That is why, Beckham and Terry want to remain focused without being too much emotion ahead of another match against Croatia.

Beckham thinks England players should forget what happened in the past, insisting to give all the focus on the present. Admitting that Croatia has some really good players, Beckham has indicated a hard-fought match at Zagreb on 10 September 2008. Captain Terry also wants to avoid any talks regarding any revenge mission ahead of the match. He thinks it is a new match, but the focus lies on winning three points from the match.
