Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has expressed his interest in Ghana international Stephen Appiah to replace Michael Essien in the Chelsea squad. Essien is currently injured and will be out for tonight’s premier league fixture at Manchester City as he picked up an injury on international duty. The interesting thing is that both Appiah and Essien play for Ghana in international stage, and Appiah got his international debut when Essien was inured out of the team.
Now, Appiah might be the cover for Essien in club level too if Chelsea can really materialize their interest in the midfielder. As summer transfer window is now closed, Chelsea could include a new player through loan deal or by signing a free agent. Appiah has thus become one of the most eye-catching players available in the market at this moment. Chelsea has started the season pretty satisfactorily, if not superbly, after picking up seven points from three matches so far this season. However, with Didier Drogba back from injury for the first time this season, Chelsea is expected to look stronger now.
