Manchester United: Not Serious in Pre-season Tour to South Africa?

Don’t blame me for making such question. In fact, this is not me who raised this question. This question has been raised by fractions of media and some fans in South Africa. Red Devils are currently in South Africa for participating in a tournament as part of their pre-season tour.

So far, Manchester United played two matches in the Vodacom Challenge tournament against Kazier Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, the two other participants in the competition. After a 1-1 draw against Chiefs, Manchester United won their second match against Pirates thanks to the solitary goal from Lee Martin.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson denied the news claiming United players are not giving hundred percent in the tournament. Rather, the manager claimed that he had taken the tournament as part of their pre-season training. Besides giving chances to some young players, Ferguson also played some of the star players in the tournament including Rio Ferdinand, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Micheal Carrick, Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown. So, there is no way you can claim that Manchester United is not giving their full in the tournament.
