Andrei Arshavin Played Down Arsenal Interest Eyeing on Barcelona Move

Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin played down Arsenal’s interest in him looking for a speculated move to Barcelona. He played the central role in Russia’s progress to the semi final of Euro 2008 tournament. With his eye-catching performance in the tournament, the Zenit St Petersbur striker has become one of the most sought-after targets of summer transfer window.

The striker expressed his desire to join Barcelona many times in the past and he is still interested to move to the Catalan club. However, his current club, UEFA Cup holder Zenit St Petersbur is demanding double the amount Barcelona wants to pay for this transfer. According to Arshavin, Barcelona wants to pay 15 million euros. However, Zenit St Petersbur has valued the club’s biggest asset at 30 million euros which Arshavin considers as a lot of money.

As Barcelona has recently signed Arsenal’s Alexander Hleb, now Arshavin is not sure if Barcelona will still put their money on the Russian midfielder. He has also expressed his lifelong dream to play for Spanish giant Barcelona. So, it is pretty much clear that the Russian has no interest to move to Arsenal for the next season. However, Wenger can still hold his hope up considering that Barcelona might not be as interested in Arshavin as they were before signing Hleb, given the huge transfer fee demanded by Zenit St Petersbur. Similarly, Arshavin has also stated that he is leaving his current club for the next season.

What do you think about it? Which club is going to be the next destination for Andrei Arshavin, Barcelona or Arsenal?
