Euro 2008: Croatia Keeps Hundred Percent Winning Record Defeating Poland in the Last Group Match

Last night, Croatia picked up its third straight victory in Group B against an ambitious Poland side. Thanks to the 53rd minute goal from Klasnic, Croatia did not have any problem to win the match and Poland was not that much impressive even facing a second-string Croatia team, that came into the match without its eight regular players on yellow cards as they had already ensured a place in the quarter final of Euro 2008. Croatia might have pulled off a big margin victory if Poland goal keeper Boruc could not save at least three clear chances created by the Croats in the first half. Croatia goal keeper also saved a few good chances in the second half, but overall Croatia played throughout the match.

With this victory, Croatia has won all of the three group matches in the tournament so far. Croatia will face Turkey in the second quarter final of Euro 2008 on Friday. Poland, in contrast, has been out of the tournament with this defeat, Even if they won the match, they would not be bale to win a place in the quarter final because Germany defeated Austria thanks to a superb Michael Ballack goal in the other match of the night. However, a victory might have been a consolation for the disheartened Poland fans. Germany will take on Portugal in the first quarter final on 19 June 2008.
