Shane Warne About Indian Premier League (IPL)

Shane Warne is the only foreign player who is leading an IPL team. More interestingly, he is also playing the role of the coach of Rajasthan Royals in the tournament. Shane Warne has recently talked about IPL and the excitement the tournament has created among the cricket loving fans in his article on Times Online.

The leg spinner has spoken highly about the inaugural tournament of Indian premier league. He said that there was an excitement among everybody involved in the tournament in the starting days. Warne wrote that Indian media has contributed in giving publicity of the tournament. Here, I am quoting some lines from that article written by Shane Warne:

Life is always frenetic around cricket in India. The place was made for Twenty20. You expect the dressing-rooms to start shaking in the build-ups, with entertainment booming outside. And the media are lapping it up. I even read that I've learnt Hindi - fortunately, the article was in English.

More than a week in, the dust is settling. Teams have realised that you don't always need to blast 200 to win and we've been getting some close games. Anybody can beat anybody on the day (or night). That is part of the attraction.

Well, the leg spinner is not happy with the 55-meter boundary that is seen in the IPL venues. He thinks it does not make the balance between batsman and bowlers. Warne has found it strange to play against his former Australian team mates. He also enjoyed meeting his former Australian team coach John Buchanan, the coach of Kolkta Knight Riders in IPL recently. He was also full of praise about two of his assistant coach Darren Berry and Jeremy Snape in Rajasthan Royals team.

So, Shane Warne seems to have been enjoying the new experiences in IPL. Though Rajasthan Royals started the tournament with a defeat, he led his side to win three consecutive matches. Now, let us see if Captain and Coach Shane Warne can lead his side to win the inaugural Twenty20 tournament of IPL.
