Mumbai Indians vs Bangalore Royal Challengers: Live Score and Updates

Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has been ruled out of the first tournament of Indian Premier League (IPL) with a knee injury. He was registered to play for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008 and he was expected to join the team before Mumbai plays its first match against Bangalore Royal Challengers on 20 April. However, doctors asked Malinga to rest for three months. So, it is certain that he is missing the first edition of IPL.

The bowler expressed his disappointment as he said that he was very excited to play along with some of the best players of the world.

The Press Association reported:

"I am naturally disappointed that I am going to miss the IPL," said Malinga. "I was very excited at the prospect of playing with the best players on the world scene."

I think, this is going to be a big blow for Mumbai Indians because he has lost one of the best options of their pace attack. Dilhara Fernando and Shaun Pollock along with local lad Ashish Nehra would form the pace attack of Mumbai Indians now. Let us see if the trio can form a lethal combination in the tournament.
