Chelsea and Manchester United will meet each other at Stamford Bridge in the last high profile match of premier league 2007-2008 season. The match happens to be the season deciding as well. A lot now depend on this match in deciding the winner of this season. Manchester United now leads in the table with 80 points to their credit, five points ahead of the second placed Chelsea. There are now four matches yet to go in the season.
So, it is clear that Manchester United now on the verge of defending the title. Manchester United now needs maximum eight points to clinch the trophy from their next four matches. Chelsea, on the other hand, now five points away and their title hope suffered a big blow following the unexpected draw against Wigan Athletic tonight, where a victory could take them within three points of Manchester United.
So, a victory against Manchester United at home would give them an opportunity to recover the point deficit and make a last shot to win the title. Chelsea is always an incredible side at home and in fact, they have not lost any match at home since 2004 in EPL. It proves what a fantastic home record Chelsea holds in English premier league.
In the first half of the season, Manchester United defeated Chelsea 2-0 at home and now this is Chelsea’s turn to take the revenge of that lose. Manchester United, however, will travel to Stamford Bridge on 26th May with the aim of winning the match which would confirm their title of this season in EPL. However, if Chelsea continues their spirited home form against Manchester United and win the match then it will open up a new chance for Chelsea.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United have a match before facing each other. So, the situation might intense for either side by the time they face each other on 26 April 2008. However, to me, the forthcoming Chelsea vs Manchester United match is the ‘match of the season’ in English premier league.
