Liverpool vs Arsenal Champions League: Online Live Score and Updates

For the first time, Arsenal and Liverpool are going to face each other in Champions League tonight. If this is not enough to make you feel excited about the tonight’s mouth-watering encounter then note that Champions League is seemingly the only hope for both sides to win silverware this season. Fans of both sides are now eagerly waiting to enjoy the high-profile quarter final match of Champions League at the Emirates stadium tonight. The match will kick off at 19:45 GMT. Ahead of this significant match between two English giants, fans are now left with one question- which team is going to win the match, Arsenal or Liverpool?

That is a bit hard to answer exactly because the match involves two of the most popular European clubs who have maintained a formidable dominance over the years. Actually, I see both teams have equal chance to win the match, but for that they have to capitalize on their respective strength fully. If both teams can put on their best then it could be a draw, but then Liverpool will have an edge over Arsenal ahead of the second leg match at the home ground of Liverpool.

For Liverpool, I think, the combination of Fernando Torres and Steve Gerrard would be lethal for Arsenal tonight. No doubt, Torres has been in an impressive run so far this season, while Captain Gerrard has been playing an incredible job in the Liverpool midfield for years now. Even manager Rafael Benitez believes that his young Spanish forward would be on fire against Arsenal.

Guardian reported:

"Arsenal will know that Torres is on fire and is scoring goals and will be a problem for them," Benitez told a news conference on Tuesday.

"Fernando also knows that if we play well he will score goals so he will work hard for the team. As this is a European competition he wants to play well and score goals.

"He has a great mentality and is very competitive, but against the top sides he must be focused and have confidence in himself because against the best defenders it will be more difficult."

You can take a note from the last sentence of Benitez’s comment that he knows his side is going to face the best defenders tonight. Yes, I think, Mr. Benitez is right on this point. Arsenal has an excellent goal keeper Manuel Almunia, who kept Jens Lehmann out of action almost all the part of this season and that is enough to realize how potent a goal keeper he is. Then in the back line, Arsenal makes a formidable defense in the presence of Bacary Sagna,Gaël Clichy, Kolo Touré and William Gallas.

However, I think, Arsenal must have to get some excellent service from Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor tonight if they really want to stave off the Liverpool challenge. Theo Walcott is also capable of producing moments of genius to help Arsenal win the match. Adebayor proved his effectiveness once again during the match against Bolton, while van Persie is yet to get back to his best after coming back in action from a long spell of injury. However, this is a big match and van Persie would not get a better occasion to get back his dominating form than the match against Liverpool tonight. So, I think, both van Persie and Adebayor could be crucial for Arsenal tonight.

For Liverpool, I would like to add two other names: Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt, who could be decisive for the all reds tonight and along with the Gerrard-Torres combination, it is almost certain that Arsenal defenders are going to face some strong challenges tonight.

Now, let us go back to the question of which team to emerge as the winner in the first leg quarter final match of Champions league 2007-2008. As I said earlier, it is very hard to pick up a team as favorite, especially when it comes to a match like Arsenal vs Liverpool. However, I think, the football fans are going to enjoy an exciting match. Let us hope to see a competitive match tonight.

At last, I think, the winning team would be Arsenal…..or….Liverpool. Who knows? Do you really know who are going to win the match? If yes, then feel free to share your opinion in the comment section.
