Arsenal Suffered Third Successive Draw in Premier League

Arsenal lost their chance to increase their lead at the top of Premier League to four as they have been held to a goal less draw at Wigan Athletic on the weekend. Arsenal players found it difficult to play their natural game as the pitch of JJB stadium was not favorable for Arsenal’s low passing football.

The leaders are now just two points ahead of second-placed Manchester United with playing a match more. So, Manchester United could regain their top place if they win their next premier league match. Arsenal created some real chances during the match, but both Adebayor and Bendtner failed to execute.

AFP reported:

Arsenal could have snatched a lead after just 45 seconds, however, when Emmanuel Adebayor raced through on goal only for Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland to deny to the Togo striker with a fine save on the edge of the penalty area.

The pitch continued to frustrate, though, never more so than when Bendtner broke into the six-yard box and was denied a strike on goal by a vicious bobble that lifted the ball high in the air just as the Danish youngster was preparing to shoot.

The hard pitch of JJB stadium has been criticized widely recently as the visiting sides are always finding it difficult to cope up with the pitch. However, it was expected that Arsenal would reel off a victory as they were inspired following a 2-0 victory over AC Milan in Champions League recently. However, Arsene Wenger men could not replicate their Milan form last evening. Now, let us see if Manchester United continues their impressive league form and climb over Arsenal in the point table of the league.
