Robert Pires Says, Arsenal Can Win Either Premier League or Champions League

Former Arsenal midfielder, Robert Pires has expressed his hope that Arsenal will win either premier league or champions league. He is now playing in Spanish club Villareal. The Frenchman left the Gunners before the kick off this season. To him, premier league is now a two-horse race, excluding Chelsea from the title contention. Pires played the champion league final for Arsenal in 2006 which Arsenal lost to Barcelona 2-1. He said that Arsenal had a nice mix of players in Arsenal squad, but the major difference he found out was of depth of reserve side. Ahead of the FA Cup showdown against Manchester United, Pires hopes to see a good fight.

Goal.com reported:

"The Gunners are genuine contenders this season, that is certain," he said, before expressing reservations about Arsenal's strength in depth. "I think that they can (challenge United), but the major different is the depth of the bench at United," he explained.

"But there is a nice mix of players at Arsenal. Some of them are starting to gain experience. Anyway it is going to be a good fight between United and Arsenal, and everybody knows that my heart beats for the Gunners."

The midfielder also hails his former boss Arsene Wenger for leading a young side in the pursuit to win the title. Well, it would not be so fair to comment that Arsenal is going to win either Premier league or champions league, as there are many matches still left this season. Even the Gunners can win both the titles, or may not win either of them. Actually, everything is now down to Arsenal. They have been in impressive form so far this season. So, if Arsenal can continue their superb form then they may win both premier league and champions league.
